Job description

Cowan Insurance Group is looking for a Service Consultant to join our Small Business Solutions (SBS) team! This role is reporting to the Manager, Small Business Solutions. The successful candidate will provide professional insurance services to clients who operate small to mid-sized commercial businesses in specific segments. You are a person who enjoys building long-lasting relationships with insurance carriers, industry leaders and your colleagues. You are detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills that will enable you to put together solid solutions for our clients.

What You Will Do

  • Retain a high level of client files by processing renewals, endorsements and where applicable remarket clients
  • Take a client centric and consultative approach to provide solutions that add value to our customers
  • Cross sell and service an existing portfolio of business with a primary focus on client retention and relationship, in accordance with department standards
  • Adhering to SBS Customer Service Standards and proper use of activity codes in the Broker Management system (EPIC) and labeling procedures to ensure files are complete and organized
  • Follow Small Business Solutions (SBS) procedures and workflows to provide exceptional customer service to existing and new clients
  • Identify key risks for our clients, identify and forward new opportunities within client files to other lines of business within our organization

What You Will Bring

  • RIBO license required
  • 2-3 years previous insurance experience (Property & Casualty)
  • Customer-centric, friendly and professional at all times
  • Exceptional organization skills with an ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively
  • High level of self-motivation, with the ability to perform effectively with minimal supervision
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Excellent computer skills and knowledge of MS Office products
  • Professional, responsive and a positive work attitude is essential
  • Strong resolution and negotiation skills
  • Previous experience with EPIC is an asset
  • CIP, CAIB, CRM (or working towards designation) would be an asset
