Job description

Overview

The Service Advisor serves as the primary communication link between customers and technicians for service and repair activities. They are the main point of contact for all automotive service matters, responsible for understanding customer issues, arranging repairs, and managing expectations regarding service delivery. The Advisor ensures customers are informed about necessary repairs and recommended maintenance, aiming for first-time right repairs and minimal vehicle downtime.

The ideal candidate holds a high school diploma or GED, has some post-secondary automotive training or experience, at least one year of dealer-level or large facility experience, an unrestricted driver's license with a clean driving record, and a strong track record in technical and customer service performance. ASE certification is a plus. The candidate must work effectively in a fast-paced team environment, possess a positive attitude, professional appearance, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to delivering world-class customer service.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain an excellent Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI).
  • Assist customers with their vehicle service needs.
  • Schedule service appointments promptly and accurately diagnose vehicle problems.
  • Make repair recommendations and manage repair delivery by setting proper expectations.
  • Ensure all documentation complies with regulations and standards.
  • Follow safety policies and procedures.
  • Attend staff meetings, training, and educational sessions.
  • Assist in training new staff members.
  • Engage in problem-solving, research, and attention to detail.
  • Continuously update product knowledge to better serve customers.
  • Set personal goals aligned with dealership productivity standards and develop strategies to achieve them.
  • Adhere to all company policies and demonstrate company values in interactions.
  • Maintain product knowledge and prioritize safety.
  • Exhibit patience, high energy, and computer literacy.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • 1-2 years of auto dealership experience.
  • Nissan experience is a plus.
  • Ability to provide CSI scores from previous employers.
  • Broad automotive mechanical and electrical knowledge.
  • Experience with ADP/CDK software is a plus.
  • Pleasant demeanor and outgoing personality.
  • Excellent communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to stay composed under stress.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for professional interactions.
  • Unrestricted California driver's license and clean driving record.
  • Ability to operate both automatic and standard vehicles.
  • Basic computer and internet skills.
  • Product knowledge is a plus.
  • Willingness to learn and work in a performance-based environment.
  • Ability to multi-task and follow instructions.
  • Professional appearance and work ethic.
  • Self-motivated and proactive.
  • Comfortable working in a process-driven environment.
  • Bilingual abilities are a plus.
