This is an on call position an days and hours will depend on various special events.

DUTIES

Thompson Rivers University (TRU) seeks qualified individuals for our On-Call Auxiliary pool. The On-Call Auxiliary pool of employees provides temporary, short-term support to designated departments within the University to assist with workload requirements, temporary leave coverage and during peak periods.

The length of an Auxiliary assignment can vary from one day to up to four months and can be part-time or full-time hours depending on the departmental requirements.

Provides Server services such as serving food and beverages, operating a cash register, clearing and cleaning dining tables.

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serves food and beverages.
  • Acts as Bartender and Hostess.
  • Provides clearing and busing of tables.
  • Operates a point of sale terminal.


REPORTS TO
Manager of Operations, Faculty of Adventure Studies, Culinary Arts and Tourism Management

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION

  • Grade 10
  • Serving it Right Certification


EXPERIENCE

  • One years' recent, related experience (dining room bartending and wine service).


SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE OR ABILITIES RELATED TO THE JOB

  • Ability to deal courteously and tactfully with others.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.


WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Ongoing customer contact, working at point of sale terminal, kitchen environment and standing for periods of time.
The salary for the above position is determined by the Collective Agreement with the Canadian Union of Public Employees, Local 4879, as it presently exists.

Pay Band

$26.08 - $28.98 ( CUPE Grade 04 (90% - 100%) )

Salary rate

This Position is not subject to a 90% start rate for new Employees.
