Job Description
Position: Food Runner
Department: FOH - Buca
The Assistant Server provides support to Servers by monitoring food quality prior to delivering dishes to tables, and then providing explanation of each dish to the guests. Have a high level of floor awareness and has exceptional knowledge of all menu offerings.
- Responsibilities
- Answer questions about food, beverage, wine and other restaurant functions and services when necessary
- Assist with Cart Service and Food Reception
- Communicate with Servers and Hosts to maximize seating
- Inspect all tables for proper mise en place, cleanliness and completeness
- Practice a high level of floor awareness and maintain a clean appearance as required
- Ensure that plates arrive to the proper guest and each plate is described to the guest
- Monitor food quality and presentation standards
- Monitor the cleanliness of the section and ensure all materials and areas are clean and free from clutter
- Follow all food safety standards and systems
- Communicate guest feedback to Servers to ensure a positive, memorable experience
- Other duties as assigned or required
- Qualifications
- Serving experience in a comparable restaurant environment
- Smart Serve Certification required
- High attention to detail
- Ability to remain calm under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to take direction and prioritize
- Strong oral communication skills
- Keen interest in food, beverage and service excellence
- Ability to maintain a professional level of urgency and momentum

- Salary: $17.20/hr + tips
- Hours: 3 days/week required availability
