Job summary

A leading company in the legal sector is seeking a Server Assistant to provide professional hospitality services at their downtown Toronto office. Successful candidates will ensure a welcoming environment for guests while maintaining high standards in food service and cleanliness. This temporary position runs from June 18, 2025, to July 11, 2025, with regular hours from 8 am to 5 pm, Monday to Friday.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent experience required.
  • Smart Serve Certificate preferred.
  • 1+ years' experience in high-end hospitality setting preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Execute hospitality functions ensuring guest comfort in the premises.

Job description

Server Assistant for large corporate law firm client, downtown Toronto.

Job Type : Temporary.

Assignment Term : June 18 2025 to July 11 2025.

Compensation : From $22 per hour to $25 per hour, according to experience.

Regular Work Hours : From 8 am to 5 pm not including 1 hour unpaid lunch break, Monday to Friday (40 work hours per week).

Work Location : 100% onsite at client's downtown Toronto office, on PATH and near TTC station.

Ergonomic Requirements : In addition to regular desk work, the position will require periods of extended standing, pushing a trolley, handling food and beverage items which may be hot, walking across and between floors, some light lifting, and other ergonomic activities associated with server and light housekeeping functions.

Onsite Dress Code : Neat and decorous black dress clothes and comfortable dress shoes. Overall polished and professional appearance suitable to a corporate / professional business environment.

Responsibilities Summary :

Execute polished and professional hospitality and servery functions for firm's reception, common, and servery areas, ensuring that all guests and clients of the firm are made to feel welcome and comfortable on the premises.

  • Ensurestaff common areas, kitchenettes and meeting rooms maintained in ready-to-use condition throughout the dayincluding restocking supplies as needed.
  • Providecatering and refreshment set-upand general clean-ups forboard rooms, meeting rooms, common areas and kitchenettes, including loading and unloading dishwashers.
  • Ensure kitchenettes and lounges are kept clean and tidy. General oversight and maintenance of the common areas, including ensuring appliances and equipment such as microwaves, refrigerators, toasters,sinks, countertops, tabletops and chairs are clean, presentable and ready for use. Monitor equipment functionality and place service calls with vendors as required.
  • Ensure refrigerators are stocked with milk and creamers.
  • Coordinate with Receptionist to schedule and respond to meeting, catering and refreshment requests, using online reservation system.
  • Monitordaily meeting room schedule; including assisting with last minute meeting requests and set-ups as required.
  • Additional reception, hospitality and servery functions as required.

Qualifications :

Education : High School Diploma, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

Professional Credentials : Smart Serve Certificate preferred.

Preferred Work Experience : At least 1+ years of experience in a high end hospitality / professional servery environment, as well as reception, concierge or front desk experience.

Preferred Sector Experience : Similar experience from a corporate catering similar professional hospitality environment preferred.

Technical and Language Skills Requirements :

  • General familiarity and proficiency with standard office and reception / front desk equipment and software (maybe tested).
  • Satisfactory keyboarding skills (maybe tested).
  • Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal, including satisfactory business writing skills and polished, professional telephone manners.

Additional Requirements :

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada, providing satisfactory documentation upon request.
  • Ability to work 100% onsite, abiding by organization health and safety policies.
  • Ability to promptly provide a minimum of 2 qualified employment references upon request who are available to speak with either Marberg or Marberg's client.
  • Ability to declare personal Non-Conflict of Interest in execution of assignment responsibilities.
  • Provision of certification of AODA and OHSA online training course completion prior to assignment start.
  • Additional satisfactory Background Checks, Technical Skills Evaluations, and Employment References as required.
