Company Overview:

Advance Machines Ltd. is a company that is in the business of manufacturing and supplying custom precision parts for aircraft, nautical tools & equipment, mining equipment, construction tools & equipment, welding equipment, custom tools and custom metal fabrication services. The various industries that we serve are aerospace technology, mining, mechanical engineering, construction, pulp & paper, food-processing, forestry, automotive, marine transportation, oil & gas and industrial manufacturing.

Position Overview:

We are looking to fill one (1) Server Administrator position on a full-time basis. Upon successful completion of a 3-month probationary period, the position may lead to a permanent full-time position with medical and dental benefits.

As a Server Administrator, you must possess a high level of knowledge and experience in working and maintaining computer systems, network maintenance, hardware & software planning and some knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) as an asset. The ideal candidate must be able to work with minimal supervision, and work as a team member with other CNC Programmers, Machinists and other industrial technicians when maintaining and troubleshooting software/network systems for various workstations and other time sensitive projects. You must have excellent verbal and written English skills when communicating with team members and customers. In addition, your other responsibilities are:

  • Troubleshooting and maintaining network coverage for all computers and systems that support various workstations, CNC Machines and other technical equipment
  • Email server maintenance and integration
  • Maintaining network servers
  • Collect, organize and maintain a user log of problematic issues regarding software glitches and user-ability
  • Purchasing computer hardware and software to conform with the company’s technical requirements
  • Hardware and software installation
  • Complete paperwork to maintain records and department standards;
  • Perform routine network startup and shutdown for maintenance and updates
  • Create, maintain and test systems to prevent vulnerable cybersecurity threats
  • Provide instructions to staff regarding use of computers, software and other technical equipment
  • Research and implement different user guides and manuals regarding the use of certain software programs (ie: MS Office, Solidworks, Autocad, Dellcam, CAD/CAM applications, Mastercam, etc.)
  • Perform data backup and disaster recovery operations
  • Implement network traffic and secure monitoring software
  • Provide technical support and training to staff regarding the use of various software programs, network troubleshooting, etc.

Position Requirements:

  • Completion of a 2 – 3 year college program or equivalent in computer science, computer programming, network administration or in a related discipline;
  • Minimum of 2 – 3 years of experience as a server administrator (a background in business and ERP systems isan asset)
  • Microsoft Certifications in server/network administration as an asset
  • Must have a strong level of knowledge in managing and organizing an inventory of various software programs
  • Fluency in verbal and written English;
  • Ability to perform tasks/assignments with minimal supervision.

Salary, hours of work and location:

$32 per hour (depending on experience), 5 days per week, Delta, BC area
