Responsibilities
The Server (Dining Room Care Manager) is responsible for providing dining and table services to residents in the community’s dining rooms and designated areas in accordance with Sunrise Senior Living standards. The Server (Dining Room Care Manager) serves as a role model in providing dining service and assisting training care managers, maintaining proper dining room setup, assisting in special events, monitoring appropriate checklists in support of the dining area cleanliness and readiness standards, and assisting in tabletop inventories maintenance. Responsible for handling all food and beverages in accordance with sanitary procedures and standards and complies with all federal, state/provincial, and local regulatory procedures regarding food service.
- Provide support in the day-to-day operations of the dining room while maintaining a high quality, positive, and safe physical and social environment for residents and fellow team members.
- Provide dining service training to new care managers.
- Maintain knowledge of Daily and Always Available Menu items and provide general descriptions to residents.
- Assist residents with menu selections and respond to questions about menu items.
- Take meal and beverage orders and serve items according to established guidelines.
- Respond to dining needs of residents while maintaining Sunrise hospitality and service standards.
- Attend pre-meal briefing to gain knowledge of the meal and meal support activities.
- Follow all local, state/provincial, and federal policies regarding food handling.
- Maintain standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and health standards.

- Perform dining room checklist inspections for cleanliness and readiness and adjust as needed to maintain quality standards.
- Maintain side work duties as assigned.
- Maintain assigned tables and surrounding areas in a clean, orderly condition.
- Ensure dining room setup and re-set of tables align with procedures.
- Support decorum and etiquette standards in the dining room.
- Complete opening and closing checklist criteria.
- Assist in tabletop inventories maintenance.
- Review, read, notate, and initial the Daily Log to document and learn pertinent information.
- Review Resident Diet Book-TSD or confidential chart.
- Maintain and protect the confidentiality of resident information.
- Practice safe food handling to prevent foodborne illness.
- Complete daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning assignments.
- Maintain all work areas in a healthy and safe condition.
- Assist in dining room and surrounding areas for proper directional flow, organization, and supplies placement.
- Partner with the community team to ensure compliance with national/provincial regulations pertaining to occupational health and safety, promote Risk Management programs and policies, and adhere to safety rules and regulations.
- Practice safety procedures at all times including PPE, fire extinguishers, SDS, and Lockout Tagout procedures.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED
- Minimum of one (1) year experience preferred in fine dining hospitality and/or full-service senior living
- Must be Food Safety Certified within 90 days of taking the position
- Maintain the following certifications and ongoing training as required: CPR and First Aid, ServeSafe
- As applicable, all Sunrise team members who drive a Sunrise vehicle must sign the Driver job description and understand the key essential duties for safety and regulatory compliance
