About The Opportunity
The Server is proficient in their knowledge of common food & beverage sales goods. They are technically competent in time management, offering timely service with a hospitable and cordial demeanor towards guests. The crew member manages stress well in a fast-paced environment, treating guests and co-workers with kindness. The server will be aware of menu offerings, vessel schedule & embarkment times, dining periods, special events, Ivy Lea offerings, and local attractions. The successful candidate will contribute to an unforgettable guest experience through exceptional care for food & beverage, respecting decisions made by supervisors, being viewed favorably by peers, and executing duties swiftly and efficiently.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide excellent hospitality following the RESPECT Service System.
- Report to work on time for all scheduled shifts, clock in/out properly, and manage breaks appropriately.
- Follow all policies and procedures related to the crew’s role.
- Maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance in uniform.
- Have proficient knowledge of all City Cruises Gananoque & Ivy Lea experiences and menu offerings.
- Be aware of vessel schedules, embarkment periods, local attractions, upcoming events, and entertainment to prepare for peak dining periods.
- Understand common allergies, preferences, and religious restrictions.
- Take responsibility for assigned tables, ensuring readiness and cleanliness.
- Greet guests politely and promptly upon arrival.
- Accurately take and enter orders into the POS system, following recipes set by the Food & Beverage Manager.
- Manage timely order execution, beverage and food service, and payments, ensuring guest satisfaction.
- Handle payments accurately, including change, receipts, and adhering to policies on payment methods, voids, refunds, and discounts.
- Participate in guest celebrations and entertainment experiences.
- Set up and break down dining areas and service stations as directed, including moving furniture.
- Assist in routine cleaning and maintenance of dining areas, equipment, and staff spaces.
- Maintain cleanliness and safety of all areas, reporting concerns.
- Understand and practice all City Cruises Gananoque policies and procedures.
- Perform any other duties assigned by management.
Requirements & Qualifications
- O.S.S.D. or equivalent recognized by the Ministry of Education.
- Three (3) years of high-volume restaurant experience preferred.
- Smart Serve Certification required.
- Safe Food Handling Certification preferred.
- Energetic, enthusiastic, and self-directed personality.
- Willing to be closely supervised and accept ongoing training and guidance.
- Strong communication skills; knowledge of additional languages is an asset.
- Ability to understand and convey written and verbal information effectively.
- Service-oriented with a proactive help attitude.
- Work may be strenuous and in warm environments; extended periods standing and lifting heavy items required.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays, especially during July & August.
- Physical ability to lift up to 35 pounds and wear non-slip footwear.
