Job summary

Cogir Senior Living in Canada is hiring a Server to join our bright and welcoming dining room. The role involves serving meals, setting and clearing tables, and assisting with dishware and kitchen cleanliness in a retirement residence.

We value compassionate service to residents and guests, with emphasis on teamwork and safety. The position offers a Tuesday to Saturday schedule from 11:00am to 7:00pm, with opportunities for growth and involvement in events and special occasions.

Qualifications

• Preference for experience in the food service industry and with seniors.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Must be physically able to lift and transfer heavy items and stand/walk for the majority of the shift.
• Proficiency in a second language is considered an asset.
• Vulnerable Position/Sector Screening (within 6 months) or willingness to obtain one on hire.

Responsibilities

• Serve meals to residents and guests in a professional and courteous manner.
• Set and clear dining tables and deliver tray service as required.
• Assist with cleaning of dishware and cutlery at the conclusion of each dining service.
• Assist with maintaining the cleanliness of kitchen and dining area.
• Assist with catering, and actively participate in special occasions and theme events.
• Assist in the orientation and training of new culinary employees.
• Follow and comply with health and safety legislation and departmental safe job procedures.
• Comply with all provincial regulations and established department policies and procedures.
• Be aware of the Resident Rights & Responsibilities and endeavour to respect and promote it.
• Attend in-service training as required to better serve the needs of the residents.
• Attend staff meetings as required to be aware of changes in the Residence that have taken place.
• Participate in the Quality Improvement Program.
• Uphold and promote the organization’s values and philosophy relating particularly to ethics, morality, and integrity as set out in the Company’s Code of Conduct.
• Complete all other tasks as assigned.
