Job description

Do you enjoy uncovering growth opportunities, leading on-site audits, and working directly with other domains to carry out improvements? If yes, come lead Best Buy Canada’s digital transformation with the SEO Community of Practice.

As an SEO Specialist, you will help steer the search and discovery optimization of Best Buy Canada’s storefront and other digital touchpoints. You will lead optimization strategies, carry out regular reporting, and support other SEO specialist members in their analyses and audit work. By evaluating competitive trends, monitoring emerging technologies such as AI-driven search, and reviewing the performance of our online experiences, you will extract meaningful insights and create actionable proposals to further enhance our visibility across traditional SEO, Answer Engine Optimization (AEO), Generative Engine Optimization (GEO), and LLM-driven search experiences.

We practice a remote first working model, leveraging in person interactions at our head office, in beautiful Vancouver, BC, for strategic, collaborative and social purposes.

Make a difference on our eCommerce team as an SEO Specialist!

What you’ll do
  • Execute holistic SEO strategies to acquire new customers while achieving ROI goals within the Canadian eCommerce market.
  • Perform targeted and thorough keyword research, content analyses, and entity-based optimizations aligned with traditional search, AEO, and GEO.
  • Optimize site copy before it goes live for Best Buy's content, including category overviews, buying guides, brand stores, marketing pages, blogs, and feature articles.
  • Support structured data implementation to increase discoverability across AI Overviews, voice assistants, and LLM-powered platforms.
  • Oversee the optimization of our 192 local listings across Canada, ensuring accuracy and enhanced visibility in map and generative search results.
  • Complete regular reporting and competitor analyses, evaluating the impact of on-site and AI-driven optimizations.
  • Monitor advancements in large language models (LLMs) and leverage insights to adapt SEO strategies for emerging generative search ecosystems.
  • Build relationships with external stakeholders to raise awareness of our channel, best practices, and the evolving search landscape.
  • Proactively share industry standards and best practices—including AEO, GEO, and LLM considerations—with other domains and stakeholders.
What we’re looking for
  • 3–4 years of experience working on large-scale eCommerce websites, supporting year-long business roadmaps.
  • Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams (including web developers, UX designers, writers, and marketing specialists) to deliver on team-wide roadmaps.
  • Executive reporting skills using multiple data sources (including SEMrush, Adobe Analytics, Google Search Console, and AI-driven analytics tools).
  • Intermediate knowledge of HTML, CSS, and Adobe Analytics, with awareness of structured data markup for AEO and GEO.
  • Familiarity with large language models (LLMs) and their impact on search visibility, discoverability, and conversational optimization.
  • Bachelor’s Degree at a minimum OR relevant post-graduate degree/diploma.
Why you’ll love it here
  • Remote-first work environment.
  • Employee discounts on awesome tech from day one.
  • Flexible health benefits and wellness program.
  • TFSA and RRSP programs.
  • 100% matched company pension plan.
  • Training programs to build new and transferable skills, including AEO, GEO, and AI-driven search optimization.
