About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Occupational Therapist (OT) or Physical Therapist (PT) to serve as our Sensory Integration Lead . This role is essential in enhancing the sensory processing abilities of our residents, promoting improved functional independence, and fostering an environment that supports sensory-friendly care .

Sensory integration plays a crucial role in reducing agitation, minimizing fall risks, and supporting residents with dementia by addressing sensory processing challenges that impact daily life and engagement. Success in this role means implementing evidence-based strategies that promote calmness, enhance safety, and improve overall well-being for our residents.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement sensory integration programs tailored to individual resident needs.
  • Conduct assessments to identify sensory processing challenges and recommend appropriate interventions.
  • Utilize sensory-based strategies to help manage agitation, decrease fall risks, and improve engagement for residents with dementia .
  • Collaborate with nursing staff, therapists, and caregivers to integrate sensory-friendly approaches into daily care routines.
  • Educate and train staff on sensory-based techniques to enhance patient comfort and reduce behaviors associated with sensory overstimulation or deprivation.
  • Monitor and adjust treatment plans based on residents' progress and response to interventions .
  • Ensure all interventions align with state regulations, CDPH guidelines, and best practices in skilled nursing settings.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and reporting of therapy sessions and outcomes.
  • Participate in quality assurance initiatives to continually enhance sensory integration practices.

Qualifications

  • Must be a licensed Occupational Therapist (OT) or Physical Therapist (PT) in the state of California.
  • Experience in sensory integration therapy, preferably in a skilled nursing or rehabilitation setting.
  • Strong knowledge of sensory processing disorders and related therapeutic interventions.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills to work with interdisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to create and implement individualized treatment plans .
  • Passion for improving the quality of life for residents with sensory processing challenges, agitation, frequent falls, and dementia.
