Position Overview

The Senior Writer will utilize markup languages (SGML, HTML, XML) and other tools to update or create technical publications in accordance with specifications. Reporting to the Technical Publications Supervisor, you will maintain accurate technical information for Operation and Maintenance Manuals and other publications, collaborating with managers, engineers, QA, and fellow writers in a dynamic environment.

1. Convert technical data into markup languages for various publication formats.
2. Ensure data reflects the latest system configurations.
3. Meet project deadlines while adhering to departmental standards.
4. Create clear, concise material, including supporting illustrations if needed.
5. Ensure all publications meet specifications and customer requirements.
6. Perform other duties as assigned.

What You Will Bring

1. Understanding of SGML/XML and HTML markup languages.
2. Proficiency in PC tools and software applications.
3. Familiarity with Configuration Management.
4. Post-secondary education, preferably in technical writing.
5. Experience in technical writing or similar roles.
6. Knowledge of S1000D, ATA, CALs, MIL/STD specifications is an asset.
7. Knowledge of aircraft, naval, or land systems is an asset but not required.
8. Experience with software like Adobe FrameMaker, InDesign, Arbortext Epic, Adobe Acrobat Pro, or similar.
9. Strong communication, collaboration, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
10. Ability to author in both official languages is preferred.
11. Eligibility for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), ITAR, and security clearances.
