We are actively seeking a Senior Welding Engineer to join our team in Cambridge, ON.
In this key role, you will develop and refine welding procedures, support manufacturing operations, and lead complex engineering projects with minimal oversight. Reporting to the Manager of Manufacturing Engineering within the Component Engineering department, you’ll play a vital role in improving shop processes, designing tooling and fixtures, and ensuring compliance with quality standards.
You’ll serve as a cross-functional liaison, collaborating with upper management, shop employees, and external customers. While this position has no direct reports, you’ll be expected to coach peers, review technical work, and provide training on welding processes and equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain welding procedures and supporting documentation to meet quality standards and customer requirements.
Troubleshoot and resolve non-conformances in collaboration with quality, engineering, and production teams.
Design and implement custom tooling, fixtures, and welding solutions to support safe and efficient shop operations.
Conduct product reviews and provide input on estimating, scheduling, and resource planning.
Lead and support the development of welding processes for new applications and continuous improvement initiatives.
Maintain records of welding equipment, consumables, and best practices for future reference.
Provide guidance, mentorship, and training to peers and shop personnel as needed.
Take ownership of large, complex projects with minimal oversight, driving innovation and high-quality outcomes.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (Master’s or PhD is an asset)
P.Eng. designation in Mechanical or related field
15+ years of experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
Strong analytical and communication skills, with leadership experience
Proficient in Microsoft Office; AutoCAD and SolidWorks experience preferred
Knowledge of CSA machine guarding, Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, and SPC tools
Experience in the Nuclear industry is an asset

The base salary range for this position in [[Ontario]]at the start of employment is expected to be between $[[89,000]] and $[[139,000]] per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment.
