Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Water Resources Engineering.
  • P.Eng designation or eligibility to obtain registration.
  • 15+ years of progressive consulting and engineering experience in water resources.
  • Experience leading water management projects within mining, refining, chemicals, industrial, municipal, or environmental sectors.
  • Strong project management with responsibility for performance, resources, finances, and client satisfaction.
  • Proven success developing client relationships and contributing to business growth.
  • Technical expertise in water resources engineering, modeling, drainage design, flood risk, and watershed management.
  • Experience using HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, GoldSim, SWMM, and PCSWMM.
  • Knowledge of dam inspections and dam breach studies, and civil engineering design practices.
  • Leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement with the ability to influence outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Lead planning, execution, and delivery of complex water resources projects, ensuring safety, quality, schedule, and budget objectives.
  • Provide technical leadership in hydrology, hydraulics, surface water management, watershed planning, stormwater management, and water infrastructure.
  • Manage multidisciplinary project teams and mentor junior staff.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships and identify opportunities to expand services.
  • Support business development via proposals, client engagement, and market awareness.
  • Collaborate with sector leaders across mining, refining, chemicals, infrastructure, power, and environmental markets.
  • Apply advanced water modeling using HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, GoldSim, SWMM, and PCSWMM.
  • Lead dam safety assessments, flood studies, drainage assessments, and related investigations.
  • Ensure compliance with Worley health, safety, environmental, and quality standards.
  • Stay informed of industry trends and drive continuous improvement.

Job description

Play an integral role in Worley Consulting’s growing Water Practice, where you will help clients address some of the most complex water management challenges across the mining, refining, chemicals, infrastructure, and environmental sectors. This role offers the opportunity to influence strategic project outcomes, strengthen client relationships, mentor emerging professionals, and contribute to the growth of a leading North American water resources team. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary experts to deliver innovative, sustainable, and practical solutions that support our clients’ operational and environmental objectives.

Purpose of the role

As a Senior Water Resources Engineer, you will provide technical leadership, project management, and client advisory services for a broad range of water resources projects across North America. You will serve as a trusted advisor to clients, lead multidisciplinary project teams, and support business development initiatives that expand Worley Consulting’s water services portfolio. This role combines technical excellence, commercial awareness, and people leadership to drive successful project delivery and sustainable business growth.

You will be responsible for
  • Leading the planning, execution, and delivery of complex water resources projects while maintaining safety, quality, schedule, and budget objectives.
  • Providing technical leadership in hydrology, hydraulics, surface water management, watershed planning, stormwater management, water balance assessments, and civil water infrastructure projects.
  • Managing multidisciplinary project teams and providing mentorship and guidance to junior and intermediate engineers and scientists.
  • Building and maintaining strong client relationships while identifying opportunities to expand services and deliver additional value.
  • Supporting business development strategies through proposal preparation, client engagement, market awareness, and pursuit of new opportunities.
  • Collaborating with sector leaders and technical specialists across mining, refining, chemicals, infrastructure, power, and environmental markets to deliver integrated client solutions.
  • Applying advanced water resources modeling and analysis using tools such as HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, GoldSim, SWMM, and PCSWMM.
  • Leading dam safety assessments, dam breach evaluations, flood studies, drainage assessments, and related engineering investigations.
  • Ensuring all work is performed in accordance with Worley’s commitment to health, safety, environmental stewardship, and operational excellence.
  • Staying informed of emerging industry trends, technologies, regulations, and best practices to support innovation and continuous improvement.
What You’ll Bring To The Role
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Water Resources Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng. or PE) designation or eligibility to obtain registration.
  • 15+ years of progressive consulting and engineering experience in water resources.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and delivering water management projects within the mining, refining, chemicals, industrial, municipal, or environmental sectors.
  • Strong project management experience with responsibility for project performance, resource planning, financial management, and client satisfaction.
  • Proven success developing client relationships and contributing to business growth and sales objectives.
  • Technical expertise in water resources engineering, hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, drainage design, flood risk assessment, and watershed management.
  • Experience using software applications including HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, GoldSim, SWMM, and PCSWMM.
  • Knowledge of dam inspections, dam breach studies, and civil engineering design practices.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to influence outcomes and build trusted relationships.
  • Demonstrated commitment to health, safety, sustainability, and quality management principles.
  • Experience working within multidisciplinary project environments and collaborating with technical teams across multiple geographies.
  • Strong business acumen, strategic thinking, and a proactive approach to identifying opportunities and solving client challenges.
Applicants based in the province of British Columbia
  • Salary range is $156,456 to $225,083. Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, professional registration, market conditions, and geographic location.
