Job summary

orchard.vincere.io is seeking a Senior Virtualisation & Storage Engineer (Tier 3) to join our Halifax-area team. This hybrid role combines hands-on infrastructure management with automation, scripting and proactive optimization.

You will manage VMware vSphere, ESXi, vCenter and Proxmox, support NetApp and Pure Storage, and contribute to DR, backups with Veeam, and cross‑team collaboration to improve reliability and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Extensive hands‑on experience with enterprise virtualization environments.
• Strong knowledge of VMware vSphere, ESXi and vCenter; Proxmox a plus.
• Experience with NetApp, Pure Storage, SAN/NAS and datastores.
• Tier 3 support experience with root-cause analysis.
• Backup/recovery knowledge, ideally Veeam.
• Scripting/automation using PowerShell, Python, Bash or PowerCLI.
• Proactive mindset and ability to mentor others.
• Excellent communication and collaboration across teams.

Responsibilities

• Managing and supporting enterprise virtualization platforms, particularly VMware vSphere, ESXi and vCenter, with Proxmox experience highly desirable.
• Providing advanced Tier 3 support, troubleshooting complex server, virtualization and storage issues, and driving problems through to root cause.
• Supporting enterprise storage technologies, including NetApp, Pure Storage, SAN/NAS and datastores.
• Improving infrastructure performance, availability, resilience and capacity.
• Supporting backup, recovery and disaster recovery, including technologies such as Veeam.
• Developing scripts and automation to streamline repetitive tasks and improve operational efficiency.
• Identifying opportunities to simplify processes, improve monitoring and explore AI-driven infrastructure operations.
• Maintaining clear technical documentation, sharing knowledge and mentoring less experienced engineers.
• Working collaboratively with infrastructure, network and security teams to deliver a reliable, secure and continually improving environment.

Are you a hands-on infrastructure specialist who enjoys solving complex technical challenges and finding smarter ways to do things?

• We're looking for a Senior Virtualisation & Storage Engineer to join a team responsible for maintaining, supporting and continually improving a business-critical virtualisation and storage environment.
• This is a genuine Tier 3 engineering role, suited to someone who enjoys getting into the detail, taking ownership of complex problems and making a real difference to how infrastructure is managed.
• Beyond keeping the environment running, you'll have the opportunity to challenge existing processes, reduce manual work through automation and explore how AI and smarter monitoring can improve day-to-day operations.

What You'll Be Doing

What We're Looking For

• Strong hands-on experience supporting enterprise virtualisation environments.
• Solid VMware vSphere, ESXi and vCenter knowledge; Proxmox experience would be a significant advantage.
• Experience with enterprise storage platforms such as NetApp, Pure Storage or equivalent technologies.
• Proven experience working at Tier 3 level, resolving complex technical issues and carrying out root cause analysis.
• Experience with backup and recovery solutions, ideally Veeam.
• Scripting or automation skills using tools such as PowerShell, Python, Bash or PowerCLI.
• A proactive mindset, with a genuine interest in improving systems rather than simply maintaining them.
• Strong communication skills and the confidence to take ownership, guide colleagues and explain technical issues clearly.
