Position Summary

The Senior Vice President - Canada serves as the operational, commercial, people, and strategic leader for the country. This role is responsible for driving operational excellence through the implementation of best practices that optimize processes, develop talent, and strengthen relationships. The SVP will ensure the achievement of both short- and long-term business objectives, aligning with Sanimax's global strategy, company vision, and values.

Essential Experience
Industry & Functional Expertise
  • Has 15+ years of relevant experience in commercial and manufacturing environments (supply chain, manufacturing, commodity sales).
  • Has a proven track record of building teams that consistently deliver or exceed operational targets, including plant reliability, yield, and quality optimization, labor cost management, waste reduction.
  • Develops and executes strategies to meet customer demands in terms of customer experience while optimizing company gross margins.
  • Demonstrated success working with multi-country executive teams.
  • Experience in both manufacturing and commercial sectors is a strong asset.
Market & Environment Knowledge
  • Proven track record of implementing and managing company performance within an Operational Excellence framework while maintaining an entrepreneurial spirit.
  • Cultivates and maintains key account relationships, ensuring strategic planning aligns with customer priorities and industry challenges.
  • Actively visits key customers.
  • Establishes and maintains strong relationships with regulatory bodies (e.g., CFIA, MAPAQ), municipalities, provincial governments, and industry associations (e.g., pork, poultry, beef sectors).
  • Represents Sanimax at industry events like the Pork Show and the Canadian Meat Council.
  • Experience in the agri-food or highly regulated industries is an asset.
Leadership & Talent Development
  • Promotes cross-departmental and regional collaboration to accelerate results.
  • Mobilizes Sanimax’s leaders and stakeholders to operate and drive change effectively.
  • Mentors and coaches direct and indirect reports to navigate challenges and succeed.
  • Owns and develops succession plans for critical roles.
  • Fosters a high-performance culture focused on achieving goals.
  • Supports individual and team growth through development plans and assignments.
  • Aligns talent acquisition with current and future business needs.
Key Responsibilities
  • Ensures compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations, promoting a safety culture.
  • Manages P&L for the Canadian business, focusing on margins, transportation, and manufacturing costs.
  • Maintains customer experience and service levels aligned with company vision.
  • Builds trust with JV partners and maintains sound partnerships.
  • Drives employee engagement and manages engagement gaps.
