About the Role

The Senior VAT Analyst is an integral part of Latham’s Global Tax team. This role will be responsible for acting as a VAT specialist for the firm by providing indirect tax compliance support in multiple jurisdictions, conducting indirect tax research, and managing various special projects, while assisting the Global VAT Manager in ensuring the firm’s compliance with tax laws and regulations concerning indirect taxes in all countries where the firm has a filing requirement. This role will be located in our London office. Please note that this role may be eligible for a flexible working schedule that allows for a hybrid and in-office presence.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Other key responsibilities include:

  • Providing support on day-to-day questions relating to global VAT
  • Reviewing data provided by the Finance and Accounting department for the preparation of the firm’s global indirect tax returns and ensuring that all indirect tax filing deadlines are met in compliance with the tax calendar
  • Assisting with managing indirect tax audits and communicating with the firm’s tax and audit service providers and tax authorities in each jurisdiction
  • Monitoring changes to indirect tax rules and legislation on a continuous basis to ensure the firm’s systems and/or processes are updated
  • Assisting with the implementation of indirect tax processes for existing offices

We’d love to hear from you if you:

  • Display excellent organizing, planning, and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrate well-developed and professional interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with people at all organizational levels of the firm
  • Possess excellent communication skills

And have:

  • A bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, finance, or law, preferably
  • Experience as a tax professional in either public accounting at a multi-office professional services organization or in an industry
  • Demonstrable indirect tax knowledge (e.g., indirect tax compliance and research) in the EMEA region, preferably with experience in Asian indirect tax
  • Knowledge/experience of tax technology tools/solutions (e.g., Alteryx, Tableau and PowerQuery)
