Job description

Senior UX Designer

Our client (a financial institution) is looking for a Senior UX Designer for a minimum 6 month contract with likely extension or perm opportunity to design user-focused, intuitive solutions that align with needs of the business. The Senior UX Designer operates at a level where they can influence senior stakeholders through design thinking as well as translate design requirements to junior designers. This person has design flair and can advise on industry best practice to help the organization achieve its user experience strategy and goals.

Responsibilities

  • Create concepts to communicate ideas using tools such as storyboards, sketches, wireframes, user journeys, mock-ups and prototypes.
  • Refine concepts through exploration and testing with Product Owners and other stakeholders, helping to translate user needs and business requirements into features and functionality.
  • Collect internal and external data, analytics and conduct user research to support your design rationale.
  • Influence the strategy and overall user experience of products and capabilities through design thinking.
  • Facilitate workshops, white boarding sessions and stakeholder interviews and synthesize the outputs.
  • Define the approach and execute on user testing, focus groups and user surveys
  • Design the user’s experience from rapid prototypes to hi-fidelity pixel perfect mock-ups.
  • Validate ideas and designs using split A / B testing and product performance KPIs.
  • Ensure the user experience reflects the users’ needs and maintain consistency among features and channels.
  • Drive user experience best practices throughout the organization and lead with the user’s best interests in mind.
  • Provide highly detailed design principles and design system to software developers.
  • Coordinate with front-end designers and / or developers in delivering the end-product, through the Agile process
  • Help junior UX Designers grow by mentoring and coaching them and provide the right balance of challenge and support.
  • Stay up to date with Human Centred Design & UX trends for creative ideas and inspiration from parallel analogous worlds.

Experience

  • 5 years in UX design experience
  • Must have proven work portfolio that demonstrates creative design thinking as well as deep understanding of UI / UX best practices
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to effectively sell an idea
  • Ability to present evidence to back design decisions and ideas
  • Working knowledge of Adobe XD, Sketch, Invision, Photoshop, Illustrator and Abstract design and wireframing tools.
  • Must be able to work on large scale initiatives which involve a number of stakeholders
  • Experience in working within an Agile product delivery environment
  • Knowledge of financial services a plus
  • Thorough knowledge of digital design, including mobile responsive and app design
  • This is a minimum 6 month hybrid role located in downtown Toronto with likely extension and / or perm opportunity.
