Job summary

Heidelberg Materials Canada invites applications for a Senior Underground Mining Engineer to support the development, commissioning, and operation of a new underground limestone mine in Cadomin, Alberta. You will contribute to planning, surveying, ventilation, and ground control while driving safety and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Mining Engineering.
• P.Eng. designation in Alberta or eligibility within four years.
• Minimum 5+ years underground mining experience, preferably room-and-pillar.
• Strong knowledge of underground mine planning, surveying, ventilation, ground control, and geomechanics.
• Experience with mine planning, scheduling, and surveying software.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze operational data and implement improvement initiatives.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and project management skills.

Responsibilities

• Support the development, commissioning, and operation of a new underground room-and-pillar limestone mine.
• Develop and maintain mine plans, production schedules, and engineering systems that support safe and efficient operations.
• Conduct underground surveying and provide technical expertise in ventilation, ground control, and drilling and blasting activities.
• Monitor production, quality, and operational performance, identifying opportunities to improve productivity, reliability, and cost efficiency.
• Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and corporate teams to implement best practices and achieve business objectives.
• Prepare technical reports, drawings, regulatory submissions, and other engineering documentation.
• Participate in capital projects, risk assessments, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements while promoting a culture of operational excellence.
