Job summary

Heidelberg Materials in Cadomin, Alberta seeks a Senior Underground Mining Engineer to lead the start-up and long-term operation of a new underground limestone mine. You will focus on planning, systems implementation, and operational readiness to establish safe, efficient practices.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering, 5+ years of underground experience, and Alberta P.Eng eligibility (or within four years).

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering required.
• P.Eng. designation in Alberta, or eligibility to obtain within four years.
• Minimum 5+ years of underground mining experience, preferably room-and-pillar.
• Experience with mine planning, surveying, ventilation, and geomechanics.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain mine plans, production schedules, and engineering systems.
• Conduct underground surveying and provide expertise in ventilation and ground control.
• Monitor production performance and identify opportunities to improve productivity and cost efficiency.
• Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and corporate teams to implement best practices.
• Prepare technical reports, drawings, and regulatory submissions.
• Participate in capital projects, risk assessments, and continuous improvement.
