Job summary

Government of Alberta is seeking a Policy Analyst to support the Strategic Policy branch within the Transportation and Economic Corridors ministry. The role focuses on developing forward-looking policy, system planning, and legislation impacting the transportation network.

You will lead research, advise senior leaders, and coordinate multi-stakeholder initiatives to inform decision-making. The position requires a university degree in a related field plus several years of experience in policy

Qualifications

• University graduation in a related field plus 4 years progressively responsible related experience.
• Experience in policy analysis, development, and evaluation, preferably in public policy.
• Experience in external/public engagement and consultation.
• Transportation system experience strongly desired.
• Experience with legislation is strongly desired.

Responsibilities

• Lead policy research and analysis to evaluate options, impacts on Albertans, risks, costs, benefits, and inter-jurisdictional practices.
• Develop evidence-based recommendations, identify emerging policy issues, and prepare briefing notes and Cabinet materials.
• Design, lead and support multi-phase projects and events affecting transportation policy.
• Collaborate with internal and external partners and stakeholders to develop and monitor implementation plans.
• Establish and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders and other jurisdictions for knowledge transfer and policy development.
