Senior Transportation Engineer

The City of Kelowna is a vibrant and rapidly growing community of 160,000 residents. Located within the Integrated Transportation Team, this position will support the planning and development of the City’s transportation systems including major roads, neighbourhood streets, transit and active transportation.

With rapid growth, the City is improving and upgrading its transportation networks to maintain mobility, reduce environmental and safety impacts, and align with community housing, climate and livability targets. As we grow, transportation challenges are becoming more complex, with projects often having diverse objectives, significant constraints, and multiple stakeholders. Successful candidates bring urban transportation experience, innovative ideas, work well within a team, and are excited to grow.

Responsibilities
  • Optimize and operate traffic signals, pedestrian crossings, roundabouts and other intersection access controls
  • Develop and implement traffic management strategies to improve safety and performance
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance on traffic engineering issues
  • Review traffic impact assessments for new developments and infrastructure projects
  • Analyze traffic data and trends to support recommendations and improvements
  • Develop capital projects and collaborate with internal, external agency, and community stakeholders
  • Leverage emerging transportation technologies and prepare clear and concise reports, presentations, and communication materials for diverse audiences including Council
Qualifications and Expectations
