Senior Transmission Lines Design Engineer

Our experienced teams cover Transmission & Distribution, Stations, Protection & Control, Panel Fabrication, Surveying, Civil & Structural Design, Telecommunications, and more. We aim to provide cost-effective, high-quality engineering solutions for diverse energy projects from conceptual stages to construction completion.

We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Transmission Line Design Engineer to join our teams in Mississauga, Calgary, and Winnipeg. This role involves leading the design and engineering of transmission projects, with a focus on power/transmission systems, including knowledge of codes, standards, and industry practices for medium to high voltage lines. The candidate will perform conceptual design, analysis, calculations, review, and sealing of engineering deliverables, and may oversee project management aspects.

Responsibilities:

• Interpret codes, standards, and client requirements to create optimized design criteria documents.
• Oversee and produce accurate PLS-CADD / TOWER / POLE models representing project conditions.
• Develop scopes of work, material, and construction specifications.
• Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to less experienced staff.
• Lead development of capital projects, including feasibility studies, scope definitions, cost estimates, and detailed designs.
• Manage and track project costs and schedules, reporting to management.
• Coordinate with other discipline teams within PHASOR.
• Prepare proposals, including cost and budget estimates.
• Conduct site investigations and field reviews as needed.
• Review and seal final design documents.
• Participate in technical meetings with teams, contractors, and clients.
• Work effectively independently and within a team.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Electrical Engineering.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.).
• At least 8 years of relevant engineering experience, preferably within Canada.
• Knowledge of industry standards such as CEC, CSA, IEEE, IEC, CIGRE, ANSI, and NEMA.
• Experience with industrial/utilities projects and proficiency in PLS software suite.
• Experience with electrical studies (EMF, corona, grounding, lightning) is an asset.
• Construction experience is an asset.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Valid Class 5 Driver's License.
