Job description

The Greenstone Mine commenced production in May 2024 and will be one of Canada’s largest open-pit gold mines, with annual production expected to average nearly 400,000 ounces of gold per year for an initial 14-year mine life with additional potential from a large underground deposit. Greenstone Gold Mines LP is owned by Equinox Gold Corp, a Vancouver-based mining company with seven other operating mines in the United States, Mexico and Brazil.

Job Summary

We are seeking a Senior Training Coordinator to join our team. Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, the Senior Training Coordinator will be responsible for all training aspects of the Greenstone Mine operations.

This is a site-based position, working on a 7 days on / 7 days off rotation at the mine site in Geraldton, ON.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage mine and mill trainers to ensure objectives and overall training goals are achieved to support successful operations.
  • Develop training systems, policies, and procedures, and maintain accurate training records.
  • Develop and maintain training needs analyses and propose programs that meet departmental expectations and comply with relevant legislation.
  • Collaborate with the Health and Safety Department during external audits, ensuring that we provide all necessary training for regulatory compliance.
  • Coordinate and participate in both internal and external training delivery.
  • Monitor training funding opportunities, manage related processes, and maintain records of funding claims.
  • Work with local and regional training and government agencies to monitor training funding opportunities.
  • Maintain strong relationships with Indigenous communities impacted by Greenstone Mine and promote collaborative training initiatives.
Required Experience and Skill Set
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in the mining industry.
  • Experience in mining operations, either in a mill or open-pit setting.
