What You'll Do
We are looking for a Senior Tools Programmer to extend the Unreal Editor with 2D and 3D texture painting capabilities. This role is critical in completing our in-editor asset creation pipeline, supporting both traditional and AI-driven content generation workflows. You will directly impact artist productivity by developing user-facing tools for one of the leading game engines used by developers worldwide.
In this role, you will
- Develop a 2D brush-based painting tool for creating and editing images
- Develop texture painting workflows for 3D meshes directly in the viewport
- Provide generic capabilities for other editor tools to integrate 2D/3D painting
- Maintain and extend our StylusInput plugin for interfacing with drawing tablets
- Support our existing procedural texturing capabilities
- Work independently to make and own implementation decisions
- Contribute to major initiatives that require painting workflows, e.g. terrain editing
What We're Looking For
- Excellent C++ skills
- Significant experience developing 2D and/or 3D painting tools
- Passionate about advancing painting tools and workflows
- Experience developing in a large codebase
- Experience designing and implementing tools from the ground up
- Self-motivated and effective in working independently as part of a distributed team
- Candidates with strong leadership skills may be considered for an immediate or near-term team lead role

Pay Transparency Information
The expected annual base pay range(s) for this position are detailed below. Each base pay range is relevant only for individuals who are residents of or will be expected to work within the specified locale. Compensation varies based on a variety of factors, which include (but aren’t limited to) things such as skills and competencies, qualifications, knowledge, and experience. In addition to base pay, most employees are eligible to participate in Epic’s generous benefit plans and discretionary incentive programs (subject to the terms of those plans or programs).
British Columbia Base Pay Range
$182,815—$268,128 CAD
