Job summary

Worley is seeking a Senior or Principal Electrical Engineer to lead high-quality electrical engineering services on large, complex industrial projects in Canada. The role requires technical execution, leadership, and mentorship across engineering teams to meet scope, schedule, and budget.

You will coordinate with process, instrumentation, mechanical, and construction teams, support procurement and commissioning, and ensure compliance with standards. A Bachelor's in EE and P.Eng.

Qualifications

• Accredited Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering; APEGA P.Eng. registration or eligibility required.
• Significant electrical engineering experience on large, complex multidisciplinary projects.
• Experience leading electrical engineering scope across multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong knowledge of LV/MV distribution, motor control, VFDs, grounding, hazardous areas.

Purpose

The Senior or Principal Electrical Engineer provides high-quality electrical engineering services to Worley and its customers across large and complex industrial projects. The role is responsible for the technical execution and leadership of electrical engineering activities, ensuring delivery meets project scope, schedule, budget, quality, and applicable technical and regulatory requirements. The position may act as the Electrical Engineering Lead for assigned projects or defined scopes and provides technical guidance, coordination, and mentorship to engineers and designers within the electrical engineering team.

Responsibilities

• Lead and execute electrical engineering activities on assigned projects or defined project scopes, ensuring compliance with Worley, client, statutory, regulatory, and applicable international standards.
• Manage electrical engineering requirements and deliverables to meet project scope, schedule, budget, and quality objectives.
• Act as the Electrical Engineering Lead on specific projects or scopes, including defining requirements, assigning tasks, coordinating workshare, and monitoring progress.
• Participate in project and discipline meetings, provide technical input, prepare progress reports, and comply with required checking, quality assurance, and document control procedures.
• Ensure project scope is clearly defined and that technical and scope changes are managed in accordance with established change management processes.
• Coordinate electrical engineering activities with multidisciplinary teams, including process, instrumentation, mechanical, piping, automation, and construction, to ensure integrated project delivery.
• Provide technical support throughout procurement, construction, and commissioning activities, including:
• Preparation and review of electrical equipment and material requisitions.
• Technical bid evaluations.
• Review of vendor documentation.
• Technical review of purchase orders and procurement documentation.
• Resolution of technical issues arising during construction and commissioning.
• Develop, review, and approve electrical engineering deliverables, calculations, drawings, specifications, and technical documentation as required.
• Identify and resolve discrepancies between Worley, client, and project requirements, escalating issues when appropriate.
• Proactively identify technical risks and issues, develop practical engineering solutions, and provide timely recommendations to project stakeholders.
• Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and support to intermediate and junior engineers and designers.
• Communicate effectively with internal teams, clients, vendors, contractors, and other project stakeholders.
• Promote effective workshare execution and coordinate work across project locations and engineering teams where applicable.
• Maintain current knowledge of electrical engineering standards, industry practices, emerging technologies, and technical innovations.
• Support continuous improvement of electrical engineering processes, tools, and technical practices.
• Accredited Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline; APEGA P.Eng. registration or eligibility required.
• Significant electrical engineering experience on large, complex, multidisciplinary industrial projects, preferably in energy, mining, chemicals, power, or infrastructure.
• Proven experience leading electrical engineering scope, deliverables, and activities across multidisciplinary project teams.
• Strong technical skills in electrical design, calculations, drawings, specifications, and engineering documentation.
• Strong knowledge of electrical engineering principles, design practices, codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Experience developing and reviewing electrical deliverables, including SLDs, load lists, MCCs, cable schedules, layouts, grounding, lighting, hazardous areas, MTOs, and work packages.
• Strong knowledge of LV/MV distribution, motor control and protection, VFDs, emergency power, grounding, lightning protection, and hazardous area design.
• Experience with electrical power system studies, engineering workflows, and document management systems such as SAP, KMS, or equivalent.
• Understanding of process safety, HAZOP/LOPA, scope definition, workshare, and TA/NTA execution models.
• Strong communication, coordination, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively across project teams.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage priorities, exercise sound engineering judgment, and deliver safe, high-quality results.
• Ability to mentor engineers and designers, provide technical direction, and contribute to continuous improvement.

For applicants based in the province of British Columbia, the salary range is $122,176 to $206,123.
