ERM seeks a Senior Consultant, Terrestrial Ecology to join our Calgary, Alberta team. You will lead terrestrial ecology field programs, support environmental assessments, and contribute to permitting efforts across Western Canada. You bring a B.Sc.

in environmental sciences, 3+ years of environmental consulting experience, and a Qualified Professional designation in Alberta/BC or eligibility. This role offers opportunities for growth, client engagement, and cross-disciplinary collaboration

Qualifications

• B.Sc. degree in environmental sciences or a related field.
• 3+ years of environmental consulting experience in mining, energy, or related sectors.
• Designation as a Qualified Professional in Alberta and/or British Columbia, or immediate eligibility.
• Experience with federal, provincial, and territorial regulations for survey methodologies, environmental assessment, and mitigation planning.
• Strong upland and wetland plant identification skills.
• Understanding of Biogeoclimatic Ecosystem Classification (BEC) and soil mapping.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel across Western Canada.
• Not eligible for immigration sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Execute terrestrial ecology field programs across BC, Alberta, and Northern Canada.
• Support the preparation of environmental effects assessments and management plans.
• Assist with the development of environmental permitting applications for mining and energy projects.
• Conduct terrestrial ecosystem and soil mapping projects to support baseline studies.
• Perform wetland classification, delineation, and mitigation planning.
• Collaborate with ecologists, soil scientists, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Communicate with regulators, landowners, Indigenous communities, and clients.
