About the Role

Teranet is seeking a Senior Technology Procurement, Analytics & Cloud Specialist to manage technology sourcing and commercial initiatives while contributing to Procurement’s analytics, cloud and vendor-management capabilities. The role combines hands‑on sourcing with the development and maintenance of procurement intelligence, support for software and cloud commercial models, and coordination of key technology vendors.

Working closely with Procurement leadership and partners across IT, Information Security, Finance, Legal and business teams, the successful candidate will use spend, usage, contract and market data to develop commercial recommendations and support practical decisions. The role will contribute to value delivery, commercial and contractual risk management, renewal planning, savings and cost avoidance.

Reason for Vacancy – Replacement

What You’ll Be Doing:

Strategic Sourcing & Commercial Negotiation

  • Manage technology sourcing initiatives through requirements, competitive events, evaluation, negotiation, contracting and implementation hand‑off.
  • Coordinate technology vendor and reseller activities, including renewal planning, usage validation and commercial discussions.
  • Develop commercial recommendations using benchmarks, competitive tension and vendor or reseller options to improve cost, flexibility, service levels, risk and contract terms.
  • Evaluate opportunities such as right‑sizing, co‑terming, consolidation, enterprise agreements, rebates and price protection.
  • Review contracts and order forms with Legal and business stakeholders, coordinate approvals, document decisions and track savings and cost avoidance.
  • Support purchase‑to‑pay activities as required, including requisitions, vendor setup, purchase orders and due‑diligence approvals.

Procurement Analytics & Decision Support

  • Develop and maintain Procurement analytics assets, including renewal pipelines, multi‑year and enterprise vendor‑spend views, vendor and VAR landscapes, savings tracking and termination‑notice tracking.
  • Gather and analyze vendor, contract and software asset data, including products, entitlements, usage, deployment, commitments, renewal windows, notice periods and commercial history.
  • Investigate and resolve data‑quality issues so reporting supports planning, forecasting, licensing compliance and negotiations.
  • Translate complex or incomplete data into decision‑ready analysis, applying sound assumptions and documenting limitations and validation steps.
  • Build and enhance Excel and Power BI dashboards for renewal planning, spend visibility, vendor concentration, software asset insights and leadership reporting.
  • Identify opportunities to apply analytics within sourcing and vendor‑management activities and create practical tools and documentation for team use.

Cloud, Marketplace & AI Procurement

  • Manage sourcing and commercial activities for cloud, SaaS, marketplace and consumption‑based services, including Microsoft Azure and MACC‑related purchasing.
  • Analyze cloud commitments and consumption trends and develop forecasts, renewal plans, purchasing‑route recommendations and cost‑optimization opportunities.
  • Research and evaluate commercial models for AI and emerging technology, including subscription, usage, token‑based and hybrid pricing structures.
  • Develop practical recommendations for demand, approvals, forecasting, usage monitoring, scalability and vendor lock‑in risk.
  • Assess marketplace, reseller and direct purchasing routes and recommend the appropriate approach based on value, governance and flexibility.

What you bring:

  • 5+ years of experience in technology procurement, strategic sourcing, vendor management, software licensing or a related commercial role.
  • Practical experience managing sourcing activities and negotiations for software, SaaS, cloud or technology services.
  • Strong analytical skills, including advanced Excel and experience using data to support commercial decisions; Power BI experience is an asset.
  • Working knowledge of software licensing, renewals, contracts and commercial models; experience with Azure, cloud marketplaces, MACC or FinOps practices is preferred.
  • Sound commercial judgement and the ability to develop practical recommendations from complex or incomplete information.
  • Able to manage priorities independently, collaborate across teams and communicate clearly with technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Post‑secondary education in a relevant field or equivalent experience; procurement, software asset management, cloud or analytics certification is an asset.

Success In This Role:

  • Procurement decisions are supported by accurate, forward‑looking spend, renewal, usage and vendor information.
  • Assigned vendor and renewal activities are coordinated proactively, with clear documentation and measurable commercial outcomes.
  • Cloud, marketplace and AI purchases are supported by sound forecasting, commercial analysis and usage information.
  • Negotiations contribute value across price, flexibility, risk, service, cash flow and commercial structure.
  • Analytics tools and processes are practical, documented and used consistently by the Procurement team.
