Job summary

Ryan in Calgary, Alberta, seeks a Senior SR&ED Consultant to help clients identify and claim SR&ED tax credits, then defend credits during CRA reviews. The role is project-based and may require onsite work with engineers and technical staff.

Responsibilities include researching tax law, documenting expense treatment, and building detailed models and calculations. The base salary range for Canada is CAD 68,000 to 102,000 per year, with full benefits and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering (Chemical, Civil, Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, Petroleum, or related disciplines) or Science (Chemistry, Physics, Biology, or related)
• Minimum two years of SR&ED tax credit experience
• Excellent organization and time management skills, strong communication skills, willingness to learn and be a team player

Responsibilities

• Interviews clients to uncover SR&ED eligible projects and information for T661 filing
• Prepares technical narratives for SR&ED tax credit claims and identifies employees, subcontractors and materials
• Ensures claims are prepared and filed with CRA within 45 days of the initial meeting
• Advises clients during CRA technical reviews and responds to CRA correspondence on technology aspects
• Records client interviews and stores recordings in the central file service
• Gathers client supporting documents as claims are prepared
• Participates in sales activities and meetings with SR&ED practice leaders
• Collaborates with technical advisors to develop firm’s SR&ED tools
• Tracks time by client and activity codes
• Supports proposals, planning and scheduling of project deliverables
• Performs other duties as assigned
