Ontario Medical Association is seeking a Senior Technical Specialist, Data Automation to design, deliver, and support automated data and reporting solutions. The role focuses on reducing manual processes, improving data reliability, and delivering timely insights to OMA Insurance, Members, and Executive Leadership.

You will translate complex requirements into scalable analytics using modern data tools, collaborating with cross-functional teams and ensuring data quality and compliance.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in information systems, computer science, data analytics or related field.
• Five+ years of experience in data analytics, reporting and automation.
• Strong experience with data automation/transformation tools (SQL, Power Automate, scripting).
• BI platforms (Power BI).
• Advanced Excel functions (Power Query/Power Pivot) and complex formulas.
• Microsoft data platforms including Purview and Data Fabric/OneLake.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development and maintenance of scalable data automation workflows and integrations across internal systems.
• Develop and maintain dashboards, reports and analytics to support operational, financial and strategic decisions.
• Partner with stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable data solutions.
• Establish data quality, governance and compliance frameworks across data sources.
• Identify opportunities to apply automation, AI and advanced analytics to improve processes.
• Oversee ongoing performance and maintenance of automated reporting environments.

TheSenior Technical Specialist, Data Automationis a vital member of OMA’s Technology Department. This positionis responsible fordesigning, delivering, and supporting automated data and reporting solutions. The analyst’s work ensures the organization has access to reliable data, supporting informed decision making throughout OMA.

Thispositionfocuses on reducing manual processes, improving data reliability, andprovidingtimelyinsights to OMA Insurance, Members, and Executive Leadership. The incumbent acts as a trusted partner to the OMA Insurancebusiness, translating complex requirements into scalable, automated analytics solutions using modern data and Various technologies.

• Leading Data Automation & Integration Solutions:leadingthe design, development, and maintenance of scalable automation workflows and data integrations across internal systems (e.g., CRM platforms, Microsoft Purview, Data Fabric/OneLake). Replacingmanual and spreadsheet-driven processes with reliable automated solutions and ensurestimelyscheduled and on-demand data refreshes.
• Delivering Reporting, Analytics & Business Insights:developingandmaintainingdashboards, reports, and analytics solutions using PowerBI, Excel, and related technologies. Definingand standardizingKPIs and performance metrics and providingclear, actionable insights to business stakeholders and senior leadership to support operational, financial, and strategic decision-making.

• Acting as a Trusted Advisor to Business Stakeholders:critically assessingand validatingdata used in financial, operational, and strategic decision-making. Collaboratingclosely withOMAI Insuranceand cross-functional teams to understand reporting and automation needs, translate business questions into scalable data solutions, and deliver strategic insights that improve efficiency, service delivery, and outcomes.

• Advancing Data Quality, Governance & Compliance:establishingand maintainingrobust data validation, reconciliation, and quality control frameworks across internal and external data sources. Ensuringthe accuracy, completeness, and integrity of data received from external partners and vendors through ongoing validation, challenge, and reconciliation processes. Aligningwith organizational data governance, privacy, and security standards andmaintainscomprehensive documentation of data sources, assumptions, and transformations.

• Driving Continuous Improvement & Innovation:identifyingopportunities toleverageautomation, AI, and advanced analytics to improve business processes. Contributingto the development of technology standards and best practices for data, reporting, and automation across the organization.

• Supporting and Oversees Reporting Infrastructure:managingand supportingthe ongoing performance, maintenance, and enhancement of automated reporting environments, ensuring reliability, scalability, and alignment with evolving business needs.

Requirementsthatareimportant tous

• Undergraduate Degree in in Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Analytics, or a related field, or equivalent experience
• Five or more years of experience in data analytics,reportingand automation
• Strong experience with:
  • Data automation and transformation tools (e.g., SQL, Power Automate, scripting tools)
  • Business intelligence platforms (e.g., Power BI)
  • Advanced Excel functions and tools, including Power Query, Power Pivot, and complex formulas
  • Microsoft data platforms and technologies, including Microsoft Purview and Data Fabric/OneLake
• Proven ability to translate business requirements into effective technical solutions
• Microsoft certifications in relevant technologies (e.g., Power BI, Azure) and/or Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP) designationrequired
• Azure certification, experience withMicrosoftFabriqIQ, and Microsoft Purviewconsidered an asset
• Experience working within a membership-based, healthcare, or not-for-profit organization
• Familiarity with enterprise data governance, privacy, security, and compliance standards
• Experience with cloud data platforms such as Snowflake,BigQuery, Redshift, Azure, AWS, or GCP
• Familiarity with CI/CD, version control (Git), and DevOps practices for data environments
• Experience withadditionalBI and analytics tools such as Tableau or Looker
• Experience working within the Microsoft 365 and Power Platform ecosystem

The OMA has moved to a permanent hybrid work environment. As such, the individual in this position willbe requiredto work a minimum number of days in our Toronto office.
