Job summary

CAA Club Group in Mississauga is seeking a Senior Technical Specialist to oversee commercial and personal automobile accident benefits claims across varying levels of complexity.

You will manage external adjusters, conduct investigations, negotiate, and lead litigation/LAT disputes while staying current with SABs, case law, and industry trends.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5–7 years of accident benefits claims handling.
  • Solid SABs knowledge and LAT Rules of Practice.
  • CIP designation or working towards.
  • Knowledge of claims settlement principles, policy wording, fraud investigations.
  • Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide oversight of external adjusters on outsourced claims
  • Investigate, evaluate, negotiate personal/commercial lines claims of moderate to high complexity
  • Manage catastrophic claims and claims with catastrophic risk
  • Handle own litigation/LAT disputes
  • Stay up to date on industry trends and case law
  • Participate in mediations, pre-trials, and settlement conferences

Position Details

Reporting to the Technical Claims Manager, the Senior Technical Specialist is responsible for oversight and handling of commercial and personal automobile Accident Benefits claims. The claims are of varying complexity with an emphasis on accident benefits catastrophic impairment handling.

What You Will Do
  • Provide oversight of external adjusters on outsourced claims
  • Investigate, evaluate, negotiate personal/commercial lines claims of moderate to high complexity
  • Manage catastrophic claims and claims with catastrophic risk
  • Handle own litigation/LAT disputes
  • Remain up to date on industry trends and case law
  • Manage claims in litigation, participate in mediations, pre‑trials, and settlement conferences

The expected salary range for this position will be impacted by factors such as the successful candidate’s skills, experience and working location, as well as the specific position’s business line, scope and level. Who You Are
  • Post‑secondary education or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 5‑7 years of accident benefits claims handling
  • CIP or working towards designation
  • Solid understanding of SABs and LAT Common Rules of Practice and Procedure along with knowledge of case law
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of claims settlement, policy wording, fraud investigations and coverage issues
  • Demonstrated negotiation and conflict resolution skills
