Job summary

Hitachi Rail is seeking a Technical Safety Specialist to provide technical safety leadership within the Safety Engineering department. You will enforce safety strategy, develop methodologies, and lead safety activities across projects per industry standards.

The role requires deep knowledge of safety lifecycles, standards (CENELEC/IEC/IEEE), and the ability to coordinate engineers while communicating complex safety concepts clearly.

Qualifications

• B.Sc. in Electronics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• 10+ years in a senior technical role in train control systems or similar.
• Knowledge of railway signaling systems and interlocking design.
• Extensive safety standards experience (CENELEC, IEC, IEEE, MIL) and hazard methods.

Responsibilities

• Lead safety activities per company process and standards.
• Perform HAZID/HAZOP/FTA/PHAs and safety analyses.
• Define safety requirements and verify design compliance with safety principles.
• Review safety evidences and prepare Safety Case artifacts.
• Collaborate with an integrated project team and report to RAMS Engineering Manager.
