Position Overview

Autodesk is currently seeking an experienced Product Owner to join the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) Platform Data team! In this role, you will help drive delivery of our critical data platform, and the related services that power the AEC industry’s future workflows.

As a Product Owner, you’ll be at the center of a diverse team of product owners, engineering management, development leads, researchers, and experience designers. You will work cross-functionally with internal stakeholders, and partner closely to understand customer and market needs, using these insights to shape thoughtful work for our delivery team. You’ll be uniquely positioned to directly influence critical outcomes in our product roadmap. In this role, you’ll report directly to the Director of Product Management for AEC Data and work alongside peer Product Owners and Product Managers.

Autodesk’s AEC Platform Data team designs the APIs, services, and user interfaces that customers and developers use to access and manage granular data across the project lifecycle as well as extend the capabilities of Autodesk’s design and make software. We’re on a mission to help users solve important workflow challenges and unlock powerful new insights that leverage their data in new ways across our ecosystem. Success in this role benefits from a sound understanding of data management principles, foundational product management tactics, Building Information Modelling and related design solutions, as well as the AEC project lifecycle. This role will often be required to collaborate with internal partners and customers alike. We’re looking for someone who can lead and partner with curiosity, empathy, and optimism, and who’s passionate about crafting world-class platform experiences.

Responsibilities
  • Work closely with the product manager to understand the product roadmap and prioritize grooming and planning efforts accordingly
  • Deliver APIs and services that serve as a foundation for our data platform
  • Manage product backlog and sprint priorities including creating user stories by partnering with product managers, designers, developers, and customers
  • Document and translate customer, business, and technical requirements into developable work
  • Leverage analytics and customer feedback to understand product and user behavior, and to measure business value delivered
  • Own a comprehensive view of execution performance by assessing releases against acceptance criteria, monitoring planned vs actual work delivered, and partnering with engineering leads to ensure alignment on expected outcomes
  • Proactively monitor for risks, issues, and dependencies which could disrupt the roadmap and partner with delivery teams to mitigate accordingly
  • Serve as a day-to-day point of contact supporting adherence to Definition of Done / Definition of Ready criteria
  • Own a comprehensive understanding of tasks in sprint and in near term backlog and proactively escalate gaps in expectations or understanding up to engineering leads and product managers
  • Be comfortable saying “no” when necessary to maintain team focus on shared definition of roadmap outcomes
  • Bring extensive perspective on product delivery best practices and common rituals
  • Represent and promote a platform-first mentality in designing, building, and delivering high performing solutions
Minimum Qualifications
  • A background in computer science, software engineering, or a related field
  • 6+ years of combined experience in development, product ownership, project management, business analysis or other similar roles
  • Expertise in Agile software methodology
  • Proficiency in managing concurrent projects and prioritizing between consumer-facing features, requests, and technical needs
  • Proficiency in stakeholder management and negotiation
  • Excellent communication skills - ability to state things simply and persuasively for a variety of audiences and in context-sensitive formats
  • Experience with cloud-based product development for SaaS solutions
  • Extensive experience with product delivery tools such as Jira, Confluence, etc.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with the AEC Industry and related design tools
  • Familiarity with common practices in API design, development, and support
  • Experience with data engineering workflows, data pipeline optimization, and related processes
  • Experience working in a matrixed organization
  • Ability to influence without authority
  • Ability to maintain focus while navigating unknowns
  • Experience operating products at scale and with a strong sense of product-market fit
