About This Position

Do you have a passion for creating and implementing the technical aspects of game features? Do you thrive in collaboration with designers, programmers, and cross-disciplinary teams? If so, the Technical Designer role at Digital Extremes might be the perfect fit for you.

As a Technical Designer you will be responsible for designing and implementing new game modes, quests, AI, and events. You will collaborate with designers, level designers, and other departments to iterate on features, bringing them to a shippable state, and will be responsible for maintaining content after it ships. The incumbent will need to have experience in game design, a strong proficiency in Lua or similar scripting languages, and basic knowledge of C++ as well as Visual Studio.

This position is onsite or hybrid at our London, Ontario studio.

Responsibilities
  • Game mode / Mission / Quest / Event design and implementation
  • AI design and implementation
  • Assist other designers with reproducing and fixing bugs
  • Collaborate with other departments to fulfill scripting needs
  • Contribute to a positive work environment by getting involved with all departments, understanding their roles and interacting with the team on a regular basis to help gain a rounded perspective of the project
  • Other responsibilities as assigned
Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience in game design/development
  • Strong proficiency in Lua or similar scripting language
  • Good communication & problem solving skills
Preferred Extras
  • Experience working on projects with live service production schedules
  • Experience with multiplayer/networked games
  • Basic knowledge of C++ and Microsoft Visual Studio
