Job description

Yellow Brick Games is seeking a Senior Technical Artist with expertise in Houdini and Unreal Engine to drive the development of procedural content systems, primarily focused on the new PCG (Procedural Content Generation) feature in Unreal Engine. You will work closely with designers, artists, and programmers to build tools, workflows, and pipelines that enhance procedural content creation, ensuring high-quality, performant results. As part of a smaller studio, we value autonomy, proactivity, and the ability to create and act on your own tasks. Yellow Brick Games is based in Quebec City, Canada, and we are open to discuss remote-work situations. Responsibilities
  • PCG System Development: Design, implement, and optimize procedural systems using Unreal Engine’s PCG tools and Houdini.
  • Tool & Pipeline Creation: Build efficient pipelines for procedural content generation, empowering designers and artists with user-friendly tools.
  • Collaboration & Integration: Work with designers and programmers to ensure procedural systems integrate seamlessly with gameplay and art requirements.
  • Optimization & Debugging: Profile and optimize procedural content systems for performance and scalability.
  • Technical Documentation: Produce clear, thorough documentation for workflows, tools, and best practices.
  • Mentorship & Guidance: Provide technical support and guidance to the team on procedural content-related topics.
Requirements
  • Proven experience as a Technical Artist or Senior Technical Artist on at least one shipped AAA or high-quality indie game.
  • Strong expertise in Houdini and Unreal Engine’s PCG tools.
  • Proficiency with Blueprints and Material Editor.
  • Experience developing tools and pipelines that enhance procedural content workflows.
  • Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills across disciplines.
Nice to Have
  • Familiarity with VFX systems, animation pipelines, and optimization techniques.
  • Shader programming (HLSL/GLSL)
  • Experience with Unreal Engine’s Material Editor, Niagara, and other content creation tools.
  • Some experience using C++ in Unreal.
