Porter Airlines is undergoing a technology transformation to modernize its IT landscape over the next 2–3 years. Core pillars include modernization, architectural alignment, and driving quality delivery across the organization. A critical enabler of this transformation is the Senior Lead, Technology Alignment, Systems Development.

In this role, you are accountable for managing cross-functional technical alignment across development, architecture, infrastructure, security, and delivery teams. You translate strategic direction into executable technical plans, ensure feasibility across domains, and resolve complex technical risks and dependencies.

You play a key role in ensuring that architectural designs and enterprise standards defined by Solution Architects are implemented consistently throughout the project lifecycle. You partner closely with architecture and delivery leadership to validate that solutions remain aligned to intent from design through deployment.

You also provide leadership to the broader Technology Alignment Lead (TAL) community, fostering best practices, strengthening delivery consistency, and supporting team development across portfolios. Through this role, you help scale Porter's delivery capabilities by embedding architectural discipline and cross-functional coordination into every stage of execution.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Ensure solution design and implementation within the delivery squad adheres to enterprise architecture standards, reusable patterns, and integration principles
  • Translate architectural direction into actionable guidance for developers, QA, and DevOps team members
  • Provide hands-on technical leadership, including reviewing code, evaluating solution design, and coaching team members on best practices
  • Collaborate with the delivery partners to ensure technical feasibility, appropriate scoping, and alignment to business outcomes
  • Identify and escalate architectural risks, technical debt, and opportunities for improvement to the Solutions Architect and relevant stakeholders
  • Guide the technical estimation process, including evaluating trade-offs, level of effort, and sequence of delivery
  • Ensure non-functional requirements such as scalability, security, observability, and maintainability are incorporated into technical designs
  • Lead the Technical Alignment Lead (TAL) community of practice by coordinating standards discussions, facilitating knowledge sharing, and mentoring peer TALs
  • Collaborate with the Architecture Team to refine design principles and develop reusable assets and patterns that accelerate delivery
  • Stay current on relevant technologies and architectural approaches to inform the evolution of technical standards and practices
  • Actively participates in Porter’s Safety Management System (SMS) including reporting hazards and incidents encountered in daily operations; understand, comply with and promote the Company Safety Policy.

Behavioural Competencies

  • Concern for Safety: Identifying hazardous or potentially hazardous situations and taking appropriate action to maintain a safe environment for self and others.

  • Teamwork: Working collaboratively with others to achieve organizational goals.

  • Passenger/Customer Service: Providing service excellence to internal and/or external customers (passengers).

  • Initiative: Dealing with situations and issues proactively and persistently, seizing opportunities that arise.

  • Results Focus: Focusing efforts on achieving high quality results consistent with the organization’s standards.

  • Fostering Communication: Listening and communicating openly, honestly, and respectfully with different audiences, promoting dialogue and building consensus.

Qualifications

  • Degree or diploma in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 7+ years of experience in software development or systems integration, including 3+ years in a technical leadership or architecture-aligned role
  • Proven ability to guide technical teams in delivering scalable, secure, and maintainable solutions in a complex enterprise environment
  • Strong experience with modern development practices, such as CI/CD, infrastructure as code, and automated testing
  • Experience designing and integrating APIs, microservices, or event-driven architectures
  • Solid understanding of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and associated architectural patterns
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences
  • Experience facilitating knowledge sharing, mentoring peers, and contributing to communities of practice
  • Occasional on-call availability and/or the need to work outside of regular office hours may be required to support business needs and ensure continuity of operations
