As a Technical Advisor Compression, you will support the performance, reliability, and safe operation of compression and power generation assets on the West Coast Transmission system.

You will work with Operations, Engineering, Reliability, and Project teams to offer technical knowledge that optimizes asset performance, solves complex equipment problems, and improves the long-term reliability of vital facilities.

If you want to use your technical skills on vital energy infrastructure and support safe, reliable, and efficient operations, we want to hear from you.

What You Will Do:

  • Monitor and assess the performance, condition, and reliability of compression and power generation assets, offering recommendations that aid maintenance and operational decisions.

  • Provide technical mentorship and troubleshooting support for rotating equipment, helping improve equipment availability, performance, and operational reliability.

  • Collaborate with Operations, Reliability, Engineering, Project teams, vendors, and OEMs to resolve technical issues and find opportunities for ongoing improvement.

  • Analyze equipment health using operating data, inspections, vibration analysis, and reliability metrics to identify emerging issues and recommend corrective actions.

  • Support major maintenance activities, outages, overhauls, commissioning efforts, and equipment startups by providing technical oversight and field support.

  • Contribute to maintenance strategies, technical procedures, equipment standards, and asset management initiatives that improve reliability, safety, and operational efficiency.

  • Provide technical input for capital projects, equipment upgrades, modernization initiatives, and facility modifications, ensuring maintainability and lifecycle considerations are addressed.

  • Knowledge of preventive, predictive, and condition-based maintenance practices, outage planning, and equipment lifecycle management.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to a variety of audiences and influence decisions across multiple collaborator groups.

  • Experience supporting equipment overhauls, commissioning activities, facility modifications, maintenance capital projects, or modernization initiatives.

  • Professional Engineer designation, technologist certification, trade qualification, or relevant equipment-specific technical training.

Working Conditions

Combination of office and field-based work environments. Frequent travel to compression and power generation sites across the West Coast Transmission network. Field work and travel may account for up to 35% of the role depending on outages, projects, and operational requirements. Exposure to industrial environments, including noise, weather conditions, rotating equipment, uneven terrain, and other operating-site hazards while adhering to all safety requirements and personal protective equipment standards. Extensive driving required to support field operations and facility visits.
