Who you are:

We are always looking for amazing talent who can contribute to our growth and deliver results! Geotab is seeking a Senior Team Lead, Software Development who will manage a team and develop high level code with attention to system integration and scalability. You are able to create representations for functions and user interfaces. You will ensure that the software meets all requirements of design, quality, security, extensibility etc. You have the ability to take the solution all the way to the finish line. You are also a coach and always provide technical guidance and mentorship to other developers and engineers in the team.

What you'll do:

The Senior Team Lead, Software Development will provide strategic business impact and independently manage the day-to-day operation, coaching and mentorship of a software development team in various areas of the business. Provide proactive thought leadership and remain solutions focused. Leveraging expert knowledge in front and back end programming languages. Design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, reliable code to develop high throughput, performance critical, scalable applications.

How you'll make an impact:

• Direct and manage software development projects; ensure the development and implementation of efficient, clean code with assigned team that satisfies customer requirements.
• Align to business goals and manage the team with regards to task assignments, work arrangements and other Software Development Department expectations.
• Ensure work progress stays on schedule and updates stakeholders on project status.
• Install, manage, measure and change an Agile development process, e.g., SCRUM, Kanban.
• Collaborate with other development teams and stakeholders/other departments on design and implementation of features spanning multiple products.
• Execute Test-Driven and Security-Driven Development.
• Conduct comprehensive testing and code reviews to ensure that code quality is maximized and best-practices are followed.
• Lead and participate in development of prototypes, minimum viable products and PoCs.
• Appropriately document system design and architecture such that it is easy to understand, maintain and extend.
• Provide expert project-leadership and guidance to the team as a SME.
• Oversee the activities and performance of direct reports.
• Provide direction, coaching and mentorship to the team.
• Resolve interpersonal and technical conflict.
• Coach, provide timely, actionable feedback, and invest time in career development of team members.
• Actively works on retention and engagement of team members including upskilling/developing and career progression for team members.
• Collaborate and support employees during the performance management process, meeting KPAs and career development planning.
• Support Geotab global strategic initiatives.
• Participate in a 24x7 on-call rotating schedule.

What you'll bring to the role:

• 10+ years of total experience in a Software Development function.
• 3+ years in a leadership role in a Software Development organization.
• Knowledge C# or other object oriented programming language development.
• Knowledge of quality systems and best practices.
• Experience with version control using Git.
• Knowledge of Google Cloud Platform or equivalent.
• Experience in building an end-to-end IOT product.
• Experience in working with product managers to plan scope, timelines and deliverables.
• Experience with requirements analysis, breakdown and designing of IOT systems.
• Knowledge of mobile and web development architecture patterns (preferred).
• Knowledge of system design patterns using Docker or Kubernetes (preferred).
  
• Demonstrate leadership by measurement in all aspects of work.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to problem-solve to well-judged decisions.
• Strong project management skills; able to identify risks, needs, develop effective solutions and manage projects through to completion.
  
• A strong team-player and clear communicator with the ability to engage with all levels of the organization.
  
• Post-Secondary Diploma/Degree specialization in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
