Job description

The Senior Tax Manager will oversee the preparation and review of the Canadian tax provision and assist with global provision and tax compliance. This role involves designing and maintaining effective internal controls over financial reporting for tax-related activities. The manager will collaborate with finance teams across different regions to ensure consistent application of tax policies and procedures, support business initiatives, mergers, acquisitions, and other strategic projects. Additionally, the role involves working with IT and finance teams to identify and implement technology solutions to streamline tax provision calculations and reporting. Coordination with external auditors and tax advisors to facilitate audits and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements is also essential. The manager should stay updated on emerging technologies and best practices in tax automation.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee preparation and review of Canadian tax provision.
  • Assist with global tax provision and compliance.
  • Design and maintain effective internal controls over financial reporting for tax-related activities.
  • Collaborate with finance teams to ensure consistent application of tax policies and procedures.
  • Support business initiatives, mergers, acquisitions, and other strategic projects.

  • Stay updated on emerging technologies and best practices in tax automation.
  • Proficiency in tax software.
  • Knowledge of Canadian tax compliance and planning.

  • Ability to prepare summation documents.
  • Familiarity with uncertain tax positions.
  • Capability to prepare memos, financial statements, and footnotes.
  • Understanding of Canadian tax laws and regulations.

The position is fully remote, allowing work from anywhere in Ontario with a standard work schedule of 37.5 hours per week, from 9 am to 5 pm. The dress code is business casual, and there is a possibility of overtime. The role offers potential for extension and conversion to permanent positions. The team size is three, and you will report to the VP of Tax & Treasury. The work environment is dynamic, offering challenges and growth opportunities in an evolving organization that values trust and encourages employees to voice their opinions.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $80.00 - $90.00/hr.
