Corporate Tax Structuring & Compliance :

  • Lead tax structuring across a growing portfolio of entities, ensuring optimal tax planning and compliance with federal, provincial, and municipal regulations.
  • Manage all tax filings, including corporate income tax, HST / GST, and other applicable taxes, meeting all deadlines with accuracy and thoroughness.
  • Review and analyze financial statements for tax compliance and efficiency opportunities.
  • Maintain strong relationships with external tax advisors, legal teams, and tax authorities.
  • Develop and implement tax strategies to maximize financial outcomes across all development projects.
  • Stay abreast of changing tax legislation and regulatory updates affecting the real estate industry.
  • Proactively identify potential tax risks and propose mitigation strategies.
  • Advise on tax-efficient structures for investments, acquisitions, joint ventures, and dispositions.

HST / GST Filings and Compliance :

  • Oversee HST / GST reporting and ensure timely, accurate filings.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact during HST / GST audits and manage communications with the CRA.
  • Handle inquiries and disputes with professionalism and expertise.

Leadership & Team Development :

  • Train and mentor finance and tax team members on emerging tax policies and best practices.
  • Foster a collaborative, high-performance culture with a focus on continuous learning and improvement.
  • Support recruitment and retention of top-tier tax professionals.

Tax Reporting and Documentation :

  • Prepare and review tax provisions for financial reporting, ensuring alignment with Canadian GAAP.
  • Maintain organized, audit-ready documentation and records.
  • Provide regular updates and reports to senior leadership on tax risks, strategies, and performance.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance; CPA designation is required .
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in public accounting, preferably within real estate development or property management.
  • Strong expertise in Canadian tax regulations, HST / GST compliance, and corporate tax planning.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and project management skills.
  • Proficiency in accounting and tax software (preferably QuickBooks).
  • Outstanding communication skills and the ability to work cross-functionally with finance, legal, and development teams.
