Job summary

WSP Canada in Calgary is seeking a senior leader to shape mine waste projects across Canada. You will guide tailings storage and water management design, mentor engineers, and influence sustainable outcomes.

You will oversee projects from concept through execution, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and build trusted client relationships while advancing regulatory and risk management strategies.

Qualifications

  • 10-15 years of progressive experience in mine waste, tailings, or geotechnical engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Canada.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing teams and delivering multidisciplinary projects.

Responsibilities

  • Design and evaluate tailings storage facilities and related systems with safety and sustainability at the forefront.
  • Lead geotechnical and hydrogeological investigations to support critical decisions.
  • Oversee projects from concept to execution in Canada and globally.
  • Mentor junior and intermediate engineers to foster technical excellence.
  • Support permitting, environmental planning, and risk management frameworks.
  • Build trusted client relationships and contribute to business development.

Compensation

AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $135,200 - $179,100

MB & ON: $123,300 - $169,800

NB, NL, NS, PE & QC: $122,100 - $162,200
