Job Description

The Senior Trade Settlements Analyst will help ensure all investment transactions are accurately recorded in SimCorp Dimensions (SCD). This involves confirming cash movements reported by banks and other financial institutions. Your attention to detail will be crucial in verifying all investment holdings reported by our custodians against SCD. Each day, you will ensure transactions between other flagship systems (CRTS, PLM, Calypso, and Eagle) and SCD are complete. By collaborating with various internal and external partners, you will help protect our clients' financial security by managing and reducing the risk of failed or incorrect transactions. Your work will have a positive impact on the lives of Albertans today and in the future by ensuring all approved investment transactions are recorded accurately and on time.

Key Responsibilities

  • Reviewing Investment Accounting system’s (SCD) Payment Reconciliation module to external bank SWIFT files (Brokerage, Client, RBC, State Street, TD)
  • Investigating SCD payment reconciliation breaks, including review of unreconciled items and confirmation with third parties and internal clients
  • Verifying all daily payment activity ensuring investment transactions including trades, corporate actions, income activity, maturities, and redemptions are completely and accurately recorded in the book of record
  • Reconciling all position and transaction reconciliations between SCD and its partner systems CRTS, PLM, Calypso, and Eagle
  • Identifying opportunities for efficiencies in the movement of funds and positions internally and externally, and reporting to management
  • Helping ensure that all controls managed by the Financial Reconciliation team are operating effectively

Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of related experience in the investment industry
  • Designations such as CSC or CFA are assets but not required

Nice to Haves

  • Advanced understanding of financial markets, institutional asset management, investment regulations, complex investment strategies, and best practices relating to internal controls and procedures
  • In-depth knowledge of current industry settlement practices and familiarity with various investment products
  • Basic knowledge of SCD investment accounting system is an asset
  • Strong analytical abilities to identify root causes and recommend solutions
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively to solve problems and resolve challenges promptly
  • Comfortable multi-tasking with high attention to detail
