Overview
Senior Systems Integration Developer — We’re hiring an Integration Developer to design and implement custom integrations between our enterprise SaaS platforms—such as CRM, ERP, ticketing, and project management systems. This role is hands-on and technical, and involves leading technical discovery with business teams, defining how systems share and govern data, and building secure, scalable integrations using APIs, SQL, and cloud-aligned patterns. You’ll shape how our internal platforms work together long-term and contribute to integration strategy as well as delivering solutions hands-on.
We are Journal Technologies, focused on enterprise software that supports the administration of justice across the United States, Canada, and Australia. We are headquartered in Los Angeles with major offices in Logan, Utah, Melbourne, Australia, Victoria, Canada, and remote staff worldwide.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of a comprehensive technical architecture that integrates the company’s business applications with operational applications.
- Collaborate with executive-level stakeholders and the Project Manager to understand business objectives and translate them into a technical strategy.
- Develop and communicate a clear technical vision for system integration, ensuring alignment with business needs and scalability for future growth.
- Build automation workflows to support push/pull data processes across business systems.
- Design, develop, and support custom integrations between SaaS platforms using REST APIs, webhooks, and secure token-based authentication.
- Evaluate when out-of-the-box connectors fall short and deliver custom ETL or API-based solutions instead.
- Define source-of-truth systems and build data synchronization logic that respects ownership, consistency, and governance requirements.
- Work with internal stakeholders to understand business workflows and translate them into integration specs and data flow diagrams.
- Contribute to projects involving SQL schema planning for integrations, including redundancy, replication, or transformation between systems.
- Partner with CloudOps, Business Systems, and Security to ensure integrations align with AWS architecture, IAM roles, and compliance frameworks (e.g., SOC 2, CJIS).
- Maintain documentation of integration processes, configurations, workflows, and system mappings.
Requirements
- 4–6 years of hands-on experience with systems integration, data engineering, or cloud application architecture.
- Proven experience building custom API integrations between SaaS platforms (not just using prebuilt connectors).
- Strong understanding of RESTful APIs, event-driven design, and data exchange between systems.
- Familiarity with tools and concepts like ETL workflows, REST APIs, JSON/XML, middleware, SQL databases and schema planning, identity/auth (OAuth2, tokens, API key management).
- Ability to analyze and communicate data flow, ownership, and system boundaries.
- Comfortable using scripting tools (e.g., Python, Bash) for automation or transformation tasks.
- Experience designing integrations for cloud-hosted environments (AWS preferred).
- Business Acumen: Understanding business processes and how different systems support them.
Nice To Have
- Experience with CIAM platforms (e.g., Okta, Auth0).
- Familiarity with container-based platforms (Docker, ECS).
- Understanding of event-driven architectures (e.g., SQS).
- Exposure to compliance-aligned environments (SOC 2, CJIS, NIST).
