Job summary

STEMCELL Technologies in Burnaby, Canada, is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to design, build, and operate cloud-based systems that scale with a growing organization. Qualifications

• Automation and IaC with Terraform, Python, and CloudFormation; strong networking basics.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain cloud-based applications and services on AWS.
• Own end-to-end lifecycle of tools and services and resolve production issues.
• Embed into teams as an SME to design, deliver and maintain new systems.
• Collaborate with tech teams to improve design and operating practices; explore new tech.

We're looking for a Senior Systems Engineer to lead the design, implementation, operation, and continuous improvement of business-critical systems and infrastructure that enable STEMCELL’s employees and customers. Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain cloud-based applications, tools and services on AWS supporting STEMCELL’s staff and customers
• Own the end-to-end lifecycle of your tools and services, including responding to and debugging production issues across different cloud services, and taking proactive action to prevent future problems
• Embed into corporate technology and project teams as a subject matter expert to design, deliver and maintain new systems or applications
• Partner with other technology teams to develop and improve design and operating best-practices; Explore and advocate for new methods and technologies
• Respond to emergencies and system failures including after-hours problems; lead troubleshooting and resolution of escalated issues

Knowledge And Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent, plus 3+ years in DevOps/Systems Engineering building and running one or more large-scale web applications
• AWS Solutions Architect (Associate or Professional) certified with hands‑on expertise in systems administration and operations, including fluency across a number of infrastructure technologies including AWS, GCP, Active Directory, and Entra
• Exposure or experience to automation or infrastructure-as-code technologies (Terraform, Python, CloudFormation) and an understanding of fundamental networking concepts DNS, DHCP, AWS VPC foundations, AWS security and traffic control, AWS scaling and hybrid connectivity
• Excellent full-stack problem-solving skills, utilizing metrics, monitoring, and reporting to drive root‑cause resolution and service reliability

The annual salary for this job ranges from:

$94,600.00 - $142,000.00

STEMCELL determines an individual’s pay within the range based on multiple factors including experience, education, job-related skills, and equity within the team or organization. For jobs that are eligible for sales incentives, the range noted above is inclusive of target incentives; actual incentives are based on individual performance results in accordance with company policy. In addition to base salary, STEMCELL offers a comprehensive total rewards package including health benefits, retirement savings, and more.
