Job summary

Alquemy is seeking a Senior Systems & Cloud Engineer to design, implement, and support enterprise server, identity, and cloud infrastructure. The role focuses on building secure, scalable systems while transitioning operations from a managed service provider to an internal team.

The candidate will work with Windows Server, AD, Entra ID, PKI, SQL Server, VMware/Hyper-V, storage, backup, and Azure infrastructure, with strong PowerShell skills and knowledge of Terraform or Bicep.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in systems and cloud infrastructure engineering.
• Hands-on with Windows Server, Active Directory, Entra ID, PKI, SQL Server, VMware/Hyper-V, storage, and backup/recovery.
• Experience designing and managing Microsoft Azure infrastructure.
• Proficiency with PowerShell; Terraform or Bicep is a plus.
• Experience with infrastructure security, governance, and hybrid IT environments.
• Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
• AZ-104 or AZ-305 certifications are assets.
• Experience with infrastructure modernization or managed-service transitions is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and manage Windows Server, Active Directory, Entra ID, PKI, virtualization, storage, and backup environments.
• Design and manage Microsoft Azure infrastructure, including IaaS, landing zones, governance, security, and cost management.
• Administer SQL Server, including security, backup/recovery, patching, performance, and high availability.
• Lead infrastructure audits, gap assessments, lifecycle planning, and architecture standards.
• Manage server patching, vulnerability management, monitoring, disaster recovery, and restore testing.
• Support infrastructure integration across IT and operational environments, including remote sites and occasional travel.
• Lead the transition of infrastructure operations from a MSP to an internal infrastructure team.
• Maintain infrastructure documentation, runbooks, recovery procedures, and technical standards.
• Collaborate with network and security teams to implement infrastructure, security, and identity controls.
