Job description

Our client, a fun, inspiring interactive agency located in the King and Spadina area in a beautiful loft with lots of sun has engaged ROSS (www.getROSS.com) to help them recruit a Senior Systems Architect. ROSS is a team of People Specialists helping companies align their People Strategy with their business growth. We provide remote or site HR and Recruitment solutions complimented by leading edge open-source HRIS software.

You will be involved in setting up and managing eCommerce server farms. We are looking for a person who is autonomous, responsible and dynamic, and wants to be part of an experienced team that is both ambitious and passionate about technology.

You Have:

  1. Extensive experience in IBM pSeries, System x and BladeCenter configuration and implementation
  2. Extensive experience in AIX, Linux, and Windows systems administration
  3. Demonstrated knowledge of virtualization (PowerVM/VMWare/Xen/Hyper-V)
  4. Demonstrated knowledge of High Availability solutions
  5. Demonstrated knowledge of Networking/SAN connectivity
  6. Experience troubleshooting a wide range of Network Appliance hardware and software
  7. Minimum 5 years of experience in supporting N-tier production systems
  8. Minimum 5 years experience with the following technologies:
    1. IBM HTTPD Server / Apache
    2. IBM WebSphere Application Server (WAS), Network Deployment (ND), ExtendedDeployment (XD)
    3. IBM WebSphere MQ
    4. IBM WebSphere Commerce (WCS version 5.6 and 6.0) strongly considered an asset
    5. IBM DB2
  9. Experience performance tuning for OLTP applications
  10. Experience with IBM Director
  11. Experience with Cisco and CheckPoint products
  12. Experience working within a consulting or interactive agency
  13. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  14. Excellent analytical and problem solving capabilities
  15. Good time management and organizational skills

You Will:

  1. Manage enterprise infrastructure running IBM WebSphere Commerce Suite on AIX, Linux and Windows platforms
  2. Implement highly availability and scalable systems; ensure expected availability and performance levels are achieved
  3. Work with monitoring tools and log files to proactively identify problems, and take action to avoid service interruptions and to reduce down time when service disruptions occur
  4. Perform root cause analysis for service interruption recovery
  5. Perform and manage systems backups and recovery, including backup/restore HMC, VIO Server/client
  6. Manage firewalls, routers, switches, load balancers, and Intrusion Detection System
  7. Maintain and update documentation
  8. Cross train members of support team

Education:

  1. Bachelor of Computer Science or Engineering
  2. Industry Certifications in multiple technology platforms such as: IBM Power Systems Technical Support for AIX and Linux, IBM Certified Systems Expert for BladeCenter and System Storage, IBM WebSphere Application, Commerce and DB2 Certifications, Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certificate
