Job Description

Live Assets | IT Staffing Solutions is hiring a Senior System Administrator to join our client’s team. This position will lead a team of Systems Administrators and report to the Manager – Service Delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Systems Administration

• Mentor a team of systems administrators, providing open and transparent communication and leadership, as well as guidance and support as needed.
• Lead the design and implementation of solutions for various projects and operational needs.
• Server management including installing and rebuilding servers, configuration of hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, and storage in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements.
• Install and configure systems such as infrastructure applications or Asset Management applications as needed.
• Familiar with developing and maintaining installation and configuration procedures.
• Act as an escalation point for technical issues within the department.

Operations and Support

• Oversee daily system monitoring, including verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems, and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.
• Oversee daily backup operations, provide Tier III and other support per request from various users, clients, and partners, investigating and troubleshooting issues.
• Repair and recover from hardware or software failures, coordinating and communicating with the service desk and stakeholders as needed.
• Conduct and contribute to periodic security audits, both internal and third-party.
• Promote ITIL standards within the department.

Maintenance

• Apply OS patches and upgrades regularly and upgrade administrative tools and utilities, configuring new tools and services as necessary.
• Complete periodic performance reporting to support capacity planning.
• Perform ongoing upgrades and optimization on all server and network infrastructure.

Necessary Skills

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Computer Science, Information Systems & Design, or related field.
• 5 years of related experience in a network and systems administration role, with at least 2 years in a senior or leadership position.
• Solid understanding of IT security principles in a corporate environment, including risk management.
• In-depth knowledge of ITIL processes, particularly for change management and the service desk.
• Experience with design and maintenance of SharePoint sites (2010 and 365).
• Experience in managing and supporting hybrid Microsoft 365 environments.
• Enterprise-class Windows Server operating systems (2008-2016) management experience and SQL (2003-2016) database management experience.
• Experience with mobile device management for iOS and Android.
• Project management experience, with the ability to effectively design and implement IT projects from start to finish with minimal oversight.
