Senior Sustaining Engineer (Embedded) - Onsite Position

We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Sustaining Engineer with expertise in embedded hardware design to contribute to cutting-edge embedded systems technology at our world-class facility in Ottawa, ON.

As a Senior Sustaining Engineer, you will provide engineering support across all production aspects, including debugging and repairing facilities, addressing issues with manufacturing test equipment, and conducting technical investigations ranging from field-reported issues to yield improvements. You will also assist the R&D team with test setups and scripting to automate testing processes.

Location: Ottawa, ON - Onsite Position

Your Responsibilities:

  • Debug and test new embedded products at the forefront of technology.
  • Support and enhance existing embedded products.
  • Champion test automation for embedded products.
  • Apply and improve development processes.
  • Generate accurate user and design documentation.
  • Evaluate new technologies and products.
  • Stay current with embedded hardware trends and share knowledge.
  • Contribute to manufacturing technical data packages.
  • Maintain a positive and productive team environment.

Qualifications:

  • Self-motivated with a strong desire to learn.
  • Solid understanding of electronics and engineering principles.
  • Responsible, quality-focused, and deadline-oriented.
  • Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in test automation with Python.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree or Technologist Diploma in Computer/Electrical Engineering or Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years of board-level development and hands-on lab experience (co-op experience applicable).
  • Familiarity with hardware test equipment, electronics testing, and debugging.
  • Knowledge of high-speed digital circuit design and signal integrity.
  • Experience with CAD tools and test automation.
  • Electronics soldering skills.
  • Hobby projects with Raspberry Pi, Arduino, or LabJack are a plus.
  • Familiarity with VME, VPX, PCI, RapidIO, VxWorks, and scripting with Python is advantageous.
