Role As the Senior Manager – Supply Chain, you will be responsible for managing and overseeing all day-to-day operations that allow our company to execute on distribution orders and projects. This will include, but is not limited to, the procurement, transportation, transloading, packaging, and exporting of bulk commodities under an efficient supply chain model. This is a hands-on role encompassing management of all material sourcing, inventory, rail transport, transload operations, export shipments, and domestic deliveries. You will be required to communicate with vendors, internal stakeholders, and customers on a frequent basis. It is likely you will have staff reporting to you, for the duration of the role, to assist in theexecution of the below responsibilities. CORE RESPONSIBILITIES & VALUE
1.Pipeline Management / Order Execution / Project Management
Order, monitor and manage the procurement and transportation of all inbound materials required for the execution of customers’ orders to ensure accurate, timely and quality service for our clients
Procurement of bulk commodities and material packaging, as required to meet customer orders.
High attention to detail and care to fully execute and manage inbound rail shipments with Class 1 carriers and short lines.
Plan and oversee all transload operations to ensure maximum productivity and execution of customer orders.
Plan, execute and manage all outbound exports shipments, as required to meet customer orders.
Proactive response to service issues and adhere to established department KPIs to ensure internal/external customer satisfaction.
Overall pipeline management to minimize material dwell, maintain optimal inventory levels and complete customer orders via the most efficient operational model.
2.Inventory Management
Ensure accurate reporting of inventory across all facilities.
Ensure weekly, monthly and quarterly inventory reconciliation requirements are met and publish weekly inv reconciliation report
Investigate and resolve any inventory discrepancies.
Review and enhance inventory controls to help increase reporting accuracy.
Develop SOP’s to help reduce inventory loss/ shrink.
3. Vendor / Expense Management Invoice validation of operational expenses.
Monitor, review and evaluate existing vendor performance, highlighting areas of concern or underperformance.
Liaison/negotiate with vendors to maintain/improve existing service and/or rate levels.
Evaluate and on-board new vendors that fit SEI operating model.
Proactively look to reduce operating cost and/or improve service levels in the SEI supply chain. 4. Reporting
Completion of supply chain reports as required by senior management.
Completion of customer reports as required.
Ad hoc assignments as given.
5. Optimization and Efficiency
Proactively identify, present and/or implement improvements to operations and internal processes that add value to SEI services, products or customer engagement.
6. Staff Management, Development and Leadership
Effectively manage direct reports, to help achieve and exceed the responsibility of the job role.
Develop direct reports to improve their skill base and become effective in all operational areas of SEI Bentonite.
Provide a leadership example congruent with the values and goals with company work culture objectives.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
5 -8 years’ experience in freight forwarding, logistics, bulk commodity and/or transportation industry.
High degree of computer and technological literacy, including full proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to use/learn ERP systems, online applications, TMS/WMS systems, and other applications as required.
Operational and market expertise of sea freight products/environment, as well as Incoterms, customs, and export shipping documentation.
Operational and market expertise in domestic bulk transportation and shipping modes.
Certification in CIFFA, CITT, or equivalent is considered an asset.
Experience with forecasting and demand planning models for supply chain applications, considered an asset.
Experience with Class 1 railroads (especially carload/bulk commodity traffic) and/or CROR, considered an asset.
Experience with transloading, bulk trucking, and drayage operations is considered an asset.
