Role description:

Under the support and guidance of the Subservice Utility Engineering (SUE) Field Supervisor, the Utility Locator is responsible for completing SUE field activities, either individually or as part of a team, by following our procedures and processes. These activities will typically include: field verification of utility positions using a variety of geophysical tools, operation and capture of GPS survey data relevant for SUE activities, coordinate with SUE subcontractors, establishing traffic control and other safe work zones, temporary confined space access observing all safety procedures and protocols. This position also includes assuming responsibility for the capture, organization and transfer of the field information to other SUE team personnel to permit delivery of our SUE projects.

Role accountabilities:

  • Operate EM induction locating equipment and accessories, magnetic bar finder, etc.
  • Ensure accuracy and efficiency in the acquisition of field data
  • Travel to other cities, work in variety of settings/conditions; occasional night work, weekends, etc.,
  • Maintain accurate records (data, timesheets, expenses, etc.)
  • Operate a PC and GPS receiver systems
  • Complete confined space entries as required using all appropriate safety equipment, protocols and procedures
  • Review and understand utility maps in various formats and from various sources
  • Document field work with photographs, field sheets, other forms, etc.
  • Ensure adherence to all our procedures, processes and systems.
  • Conduct day-to-day job tasks in accordance to legislated and Company dictated Environmental, Health and Safety mandates
  • Conduct yourself in a professional and courteous manner while dealing with any/all of the following: fellow employees, utility representatives, public or private industry, etc. at all times.
  • Participate and engage in team meetings
  • All other duties assigned.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of related experience in utility locating (private and/or public utilities); Valid ORCGA DPT Certification is an asset
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Team player with a positive attitude
  • Clean drivers license and ability to work internationally
  • Self-organizing and able to multi-task
  • Willing to work outside in a variety of weather conditions for extended periods

The salary range for this position is $40 - $50 per hour. The base salary represents Arcadis’ hiring range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as location, skills, experience, and qualification for the role.
